3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenichi Shirahama! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chuck Evans! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice defenses there by Evans. Evans looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Shirahama throws a sloppy head kick and Evans moves out of range easily. Evans avoids the head kick by Shirahama.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Evans crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Shirahama - the referee stops the clock and Evans gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Shirahama. Evans manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Evans has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Evans lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Shirahama is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Shirahama's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems. Evans drives through with a takedown into guard. Evans trying to control the position from guard on top but Shirahama is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Evans is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Evans distracts Shirahama with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Evans won't allow Shirahama to sweep him here. Shirahama is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Evans is aware though and is defending well. Shirahama is breathing heavily. Shirahama keeping moving, preventing Evans from controlling successfully. Evans might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Shirahama kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Evans wants to pass the guard but Shirahama is keeping the position.

Shirahama bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Evans's guard. Shirahama stands up from Evans's guard - Shirahama perhaps looking for a knockout. Shirahama throws a chopping leg kick but Evans manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Evans avoids the head kick by Shirahama.
Evans takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Shirahama scores with the left hand. Evans knows he should have avoided that one. Evans takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Oberdan throws a hook but Belanger blocks it. Oberdan throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Belanger. Belanger throws a series of strikes that have Oberdan backpedaling.
It looks like Janders Oberdan has been cut. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Belanger lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Oberdan has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Oberdan and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Joe Belanger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Oberdan throws a right hand that Belanger ducks under and follows up with a left that Belanger also avoids with ease. Belanger uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Oberdan. Belanger pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Some wild striking there from Oberdan.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alberto throws an overhand right that lands on Onizuka's shoulder, as Onizuka tries to avoid the shot. Alberto throws a jab when Onizuka was well out of range. Onizuka staying out of range there. Alberto looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Alberto keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Onizuka is looking to clinch. A big left from Alberto misses. Onizuka is looking to slow Alberto down with leg kicks. Alberto avoids a lazy jab quite easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Alberto lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Onizuka circles away quickly and effectively. Onizuka steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Alberto. A big right from Onizuka misses. The fight stays on the outside here - Onizuka looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Alberto misses with a double jab.
Alberto looks to land a left hand but Onizuka moved out of range nicely. Alberto fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Onizuka manages to avoid it. Alberto will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Onizuka counters with a good low kick that Alberto was not able to check. Alberto looks gassed! Alberto waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Onizuka. Alberto throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
enabling Onizuka to counter with a crisp jab. A swing and a miss from Onizuka. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Onizuka throws a head kick that misses. Onizuka bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Onizuka lands a head kick. Alberto smiles back at him and beckons him forward. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Onizuka tries to close the distance and clinch up but Alberto swats him away and circles back towards the center. A punch combination from Onizuka misses. Onizuka lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Alberto backs up against the cage.

Alberto circles away from the clinch attempt and Onizuka takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Onizuka throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Alberto's head. Onizuka tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Alberto paws at him with a jab and circles away. A left lands for Alberto.

Alberto lands the left hand. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Alberto takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Alberto smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Alberto throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Carlos Alberto will probably get the nod - 10:9. The cut man is working on Eichi Onizuka's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Alberto misses with an uppercut. Onizuka saw that one coming. Alberto works Onizuka's body with a nice hook.

Onizuka throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Alberto circles away from the clinch attempt and Alberto connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
And that's the end of the fight! Carlos Alberto comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Alberto has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Masters shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hunter sprawls well. Hunter wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Masters gets slowly back to his feet. Hunter doesn't succeed with the takedown and Masters counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Masters is thwarting Hunter's attempts to control the position. Hunter looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Hunter won't allow Masters to pass to mount. Masters trying to control the action but Hunter is working from the bottom. Hunter is looking to improve his position.
Masters seems to be looking for submissions.
Masters tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hunter knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Masters works his way into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hunter tries to improve position but can't. Masters working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Hunter manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Masters moves into full mount! Hunter won't be happy about that! Hunter is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Hunter is trying to escape the mount but Masters keeps good control and instead manages to take Hunter's back.

Hunter is working hard here to advance position. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Masters looking for the choke from the back. Hunter turns into Masters and is now in his guard.
Masters looks gassed! Masters working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hunter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hunter manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Masters has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hunter can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hunter wants to control from the top but Masters keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Masters looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hunter is one step ahead there. Hunter wants to pass the guard but Masters is keeping the position. Masters is trying to control the position but Hunter postures up. Hunter passes Masters's left leg - he's now in half guard. Hunter is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Masters sees it coming and defends easily. Masters wants to control but Hunter is keeping busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hunter seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Masters is trying to get back to full guard. Masters is trying to maintain the position but Hunter is very close to passing his half guard. Hunter not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Hunter wants to pass to mount but Masters is defending the position. Hunter throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Hunter doesn't succeed with the takedown and Masters counters with a single leg into guard. Hunter didn't expect that.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Masters slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Masters has an Americana. Hunter didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Masters is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Masters hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Portgas defending well as Domi loads up on a big left hand. Domi drives through with a takedown into guard. Domi controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Portgas escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Domi gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Portgas lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Domi! Domi working to try and regain half guard.
Domi is squirming around, avoiding Portgas's attempts to control the action. Portgas controlling the pace for now. Portgas is going olschool here, as he tries to force Domi to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Domi shrugs it off. Portgas has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Domi is forced to tap!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Stone accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Midgard keeping moving, preventing Stone from controlling successfully. Stone must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Stone looking to pass the guard.

Butterball moves away from the strike by moo. moo leaves Butterball with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. moo tries to close the distance and clinch but Butterball swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Butterball closes the distance and clinches up with moo, looking for a takedown. Butterball pushes moo against the cage but moo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. moo looks to land a right hand but Butterball moved out of range. Butterball showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from moo.
Butterball takes the fight into the clinch. moo tries to break the clinch but Butterball is controlling the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. moo manages to break the clinch.
Good standup being displayed there by moo as he connects with a hook. Butterball feints and as moo raises his hands in defense, Butterball changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Butterball stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. moo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Butterball is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Butterball wants to control from the top but moo keeps moving. Butterball stops moo from standing up. Butterball drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Butterball jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. moo is looking to clinch. moo looks to clinch and Butterball counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in moo's guard now. Butterball stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. moo swivels though and keeps the full guard. Butterball slips nicely into half guard. Butterball maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! moo could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Butterball has cracked it and moo is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Butterball!

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Koyo is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt The Poodle will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Koyo creates some space and throws a big elbow, but The Poodle sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. The Poodle struggling a bit here. Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Koyo pushes The Poodle back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. The Poodle misses with a punch on the inside.

That's three minutes gone in the round. The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Musashimaru Koyo. Koyo changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. The Poodle looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Koyo wants to control but The Poodle is keeping him busy. The Poodle struggling a bit here. Tommy The Poodle has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Koyo takes a little break here. The Poodle wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. The Poodle is not content to let Koyo control the position. Koyo might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control The Poodle kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. The Poodle tries to bench press Koyo off him but Koyo keeps the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Musashimaru Koyo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Koyo has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
