Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mike Steven!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Arthur Dent!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Daniel Cesar and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dent fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Dent walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Steven looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Arthur Dent seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Steven tries to bum rush Dent with a series of wild strikes but Dent uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Steven gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Dent postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dent trying to control but Steven is working from the bottom.
Dent is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Steven wants to sweep but no luck.

Dent postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Steven is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Dent, into his guard.
Dent is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Steven has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Steven would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Dent has his foot on Steven's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Steven works his way back into a safe position though.
Steven stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dent swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dent striking off his back but it's not causing Steven any problems.
Dent looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Dent has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Steven can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Steven avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Dent has his foot on Steven's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Steven works his way back into a safe position though.
Steven wanted to stand there but Dent had control of the position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Steven tries to free his leg and advance position but Dent is retaining full guard.
Dent looking to control.

Steven gets to his feet. Dent looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Steven throws a nice outside leg kick.

Steven fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Dent manages to avoid it.
Steven throws a jab when Dent was well out of range.
Steven getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Dent is defended easily by Steven.
A combination from Steven does no damage.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Steven misses with a series of wild punches.
Dent moves out of range of the leg kick from Steven.
Dent fails to land the takedown.
Dent has a takedown stuffed.

Dent tries to score a power double leg takedown but Steven sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dent somewhat.
Mike Steven has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arthur Dent.
Dent shoots for a double leg takedown but Steven sprawls well. He's pushed Dent's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Dent gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Steven leaves Dent with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Dent changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Steven tries to avoid it but Dent manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Steven to the ground. Steven escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Steven tries to bum rush Dent with a series of wild strikes but Dent uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Dent slips a jab from Steven.
Steven swinging wilding here.
Dent shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Steven but Steven pushes him off and we're back to square one.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Steven throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Steven misses with a jab, cross combination.
Dent changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Steven tries to avoid it but Dent manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Steven to the ground. Steven escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Steven throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Steven dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Steven slaps away a takedown attempt from Dent, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Steven rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Dent moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Steven will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Steven stuffs the takedown attempt from Dent. Dent gets slowly back to his feet.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Dent.
Mike Steven has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arthur Dent.

Mike Steven is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Steven stuffs the takedown attempt from Dent. Dent gets slowly back to his feet.
Dent looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Steven is fending him off so far but Dent persists. Nope, Steven circles away and we're back to standing.
Steven throws a nice looking combination but Dent bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Dent throws a left and a right that both miss
enabling Steven to counter with a crisp jab.
Steven scores with a shot to the body.

Dent shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Dent was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The referee warns Steven that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Dent is in the full mount, landing strikes.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Dent looking to control but Steven is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Dent cracks Steven with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

It looks like Mike Steven has been cut.
Steven is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Dent tries to control but Steven wriggling away.
Steven suckers Dent into throwing a sloppy strike and uses the momentum to reverse the position beautifully! Steven is now in Dent's guard!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Arthur Dent really dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Mike Steven's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Steven looks to land a combination. Dent sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Steven misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Dent.

Dent doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Steven counters with a straight right hand.

and Steven counters with a low kick, right behind Dent 's knee.

and Steven counters with a left and a right that stings Dent.
Steven lands the left hand.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Steven scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Dent doesn't seem bothered though.

It looks like Arthur Dent has been cut.

and Steven makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Dent really felt that one!
Steven throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Steven drops Dent with a left and a right! Oh, Dent is hurt - Steven dives into side control looking to finish!
Dent is wobbling all over the place through exhaustion. Will he make it to the final bell?

Dent looks to move to half guard but instead Steven has passed into mount! Damn!
Steven scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Dent is rocked!
Dent is looking to improve his position but Steven isn't that keen on the idea.
Steven drops a big elbow. That's hurt Dent! More shots from Steven and the ref steps in! The fight is over!
