The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice cross by Midget.
It looks like Tony Tiger has been cut. Midget cracks Tiger with an uppercut from hell and Tiger crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Midget's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!
Tiger is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Tiger has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Midget is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Tiger. Tiger is still in real trouble! Can Midget finish him? Tiger is looking to reverse the position. Midget has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Tiger seems to have recovered his senses. Tiger tries to get into range but Midget steps to the side and lands a beautiful hook that drops Tiger! He's faceplanted into the mat, ass in the air... he's out cold! That's an image he won't want to show his grandkids when he gets older! Midget scores the big KO victory!

It looks like Kalevi Kostaja has been cut. Kostaja is pushing Rantalainen's head away, looking to escape. Rantalainen manages to hold on to the position though. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Rantalainen cracks Kostaja with a big right hand but Kostaja just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Kostaja is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Rantalainen has just dragged him back down to the mat. Kostaja is looking to regain half guard here but Rantalainen keeps moving and retains side control. Kostaja explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! Kostaja throws the left hand but Rantalainen avoids the punch easily. Rantalainen gets the takedown into side control. This has been an exciting period of action! Kostaja is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Rantalainen advances nicely into full mount. Rantalainen prevents Kostaja from getting the reversal. Rantalainen wants to finish this one by submission but Kostaja is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Rantalainen. Rantalainen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Rantalainen putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Rantalainen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Apila scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Juutilainen throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land. Apila cracks Juutilainen with a big right hand but Juutilainen just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Juutilainen tries to improve position but can't. Apila lands a nice forearm strike. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Juutilainen gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Apila passes to full mount! Apila has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Apila looking to finish Juutilainen with some ground and pound. This is bad for Juutilainen!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bowes clobbers Van with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Van shoots in for a takedown but Bowes shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Bowes scores with a nice strike. Van shoots for a double leg takedown but Bowes sprawls well. He's pushed Van 's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Bowes throws a head kick but Van moves out of range.
Bowes thows a body shot but no joy. Van misses with a takedown attempt - Bowes sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Roddy Bowes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alexander Van . Bowes throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Van tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bowes sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Van somewhat. Van fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Van fails to land the takedown. Bowes clinches with his opponent.

Bowes lands with a left to the head. Bowes working Van over with knees to the body. Van looks gassed! This has been an exciting period of action! Bowes creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Van 's defenses.

Bowes lands a body punch. Bowes lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Bowes gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Bowes lands a left hand.

That's one minute gone in the round. Bowes crunches a lovely knee into Van 's ribcage. Van is still on wobbly legs! Can Bowes finish him? Bowes lands a big elbow that sends Van down! Van recovers to guard. Van is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Van is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Bowes wants to stand but Van is controlling his posture from full guard. Van seems to have recovered his senses. Bowes is stalling in the full guard. Bowes's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Van had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Bowes is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Van Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Bowes's back instead. Van gets his hands free as Bowes looks to control. Bowes just looking to survive in the bad position. Van looking for the choke but no joy. Bowes really must keep his cool here. He's controlling one of Van 's hands and whilst he does that, he's got a chance of escaping the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Bowes is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Van gets his way!

Van tries to land a sweep but no joy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Van has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bowes can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Bowes slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Virtanen displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from meridius. meridius shoots in but Virtanen avoids the takedown attempt easily. Virtanen stalks meridius and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into meridius's face. meridius staggers backwards, shaken. Virtanen misses with a body shot.

That's going to take a lot out of him. Virtanen leaves meridius with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. meridius takes a body punch but keeps moving. meridius is breathing heavily. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Virtanen lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. meridius is looking to close the distance but Virtanen sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! meridius crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope meridius is OK because that was naaaaaasty!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shillinger tries to clinch up. Shillinger fails with an attempt to clinch.
