Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Carl Menger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jens Pulver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Menger might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Dr. Feelgood. Jens Pulver is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Menger misses with a double jab.
Menger works the jab nicely. Menger lands a jab to Pulver's midsection. Menger cracks a nice hook into Pulver's ribs. Menger tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Pulver was well out of range. Poor timing from Menger. Menger throws a nice looking combination but Pulver bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Menger fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pulver manages to avoid it. A punch combination from Pulver misses. Menger lands a head shot. Menger throws a combination that misses and Pulver counters with a two punch combo. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Pulver bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Menger manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Menger seems to be looking for submissions.
Menger lands strikes from half guard. Pulver looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Pulver looks gassed! Ground and pound from Menger. Pulver really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Menger. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's one minute gone in the round. Menger perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Menger working over Pulver with some ground and pound. Pulver looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Menger maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Pulver could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Menger has cracked it and Pulver is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Menger!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silva misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Silva tries a head kick but it misses.
Lambe stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Silva. Silva shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Lambe manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Lambe is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Lambe pulls Silva in close to prevent any damage. Lambe wants to sweep here but Silva controlling him for the moment. Lambe is looking for a triangle but Silva pushes his legs off easily.

Silva gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Lambe controls Silva momentarily but Silva frees himself. Silva wants to control from the top but Lambe keeps moving. A close round but Ramon Silva will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Silva throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Lambe rushes Silva and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch. Lambe is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Silva drops down looking for an ankle pick but Lambe pulls his leg out and moves away.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Silva throws a head kick that misses. Lambe moves into the clinch. Lambe breaks the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Silva shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Lambe manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Silva is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Silva throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lambe works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lambe looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Lambe wants to sweep here but Silva controlling him for the moment. Lambe has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Silva can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Lambe had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Silva is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Lambe Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Silva's back instead. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Silva trying to control the action but Lambe just sinks the hooks in. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Lambe tightening his grip on Silva, looking for the choke. Lambe is trying to stick to Silva's back but Silva is turning into Lambe. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Lambe's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Silva. Lambe escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lambe is refusing to be controlled, as Silva sits in half guard. Silva landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Lambe is looking for a sweep. Silva is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Lambe is working hard here to advance position. Lambe is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Silva pulls his head out easily. Silva is trying to control. Lambe wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Lambe is looking to control Silva's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lambe avoid being mounted? The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Lambe is trying to get back to full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lambe is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Silva shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lambe as he avoids it easily. Silva misses with a head kick.

Silva tries to land a front kick but Lambe steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Silva swats away the attempt to clinch by Lambe. Lambe on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Silva. Silva obviously looking to wear him down.
Silva lands with a thumping leg kick.
Whack! Silva lands a heavy head kick that drops Lambe. The ref tackles Silva to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Lambe was done.

Toombs drops back, looking for a kneebar! Pattenson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Pattenson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Pattenson! Pattenson goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Toombs rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Pattenson's guard! Nice work there by Toombs! Both fighters are breathing heavily. Toombs advances to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Pattenson keeping full guard, as Toombs tries to pass.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Toombs tries a head kick but it misses.
Patrick Pattenson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Pattenson swats away the attempt to clinch by Toombs. Toombs fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Toombs gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Pattenson to score an easy takedown into full guard. Pattenson wants to control from the top but Toombs keeps moving. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close third round but Joseph Toombs just about did enough to take it. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Pattenson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Toombs sprawls well. Toombs wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pattenson gets slowly back to his feet. Toombs tries to clinch but Pattenson moves out of range. Toombs throws a head kick that misses. Pattenson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Toombs looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Pattenson swings around for an armbar but Toombs sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Pattenson's guard. Toombs passes Pattenson's left leg - he's now in half guard. Pattenson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Toombs pulls his head out easily. Toombs is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.
That's one minute gone in the round. Toombs is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Pattenson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Toombs. Pattenson actively working from the bottom here. Pattenson is looking to control Toombs's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pattenson avoid being mounted? Pattenson wants to improve his position but Toombs is controlling well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Pattenson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Toombs is working away from the top position though.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Toombs looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Pattenson! Pattenson wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Toombs.
Pattenson tries to hold on but Toombs postures up. Pattenson throwing hammer fists to the chest of Toombs. What's that going to do exactly? The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Pattenson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joseph Toombs dominated that fourth round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Toombs loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

And that's the end of the fight! Joseph Toombs comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Toombs has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
