Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, tiago alves! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Ray Punch! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Glass and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! alves throws a shot from downtown. Punch moves away and avoids it. Punch throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. alves was covering up waiting for the punch and Punch finishes the takedown easily into guard. Punch with a flurry of punches that miss. alves working for a triangle but Punch defends it easily.
Punch got a little sloppy there for a moment and alves has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Punch has managed to get both his arms back between alves's legs - danger averted. Punch tries to stand but alves is controlling from the bottom. alves will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Punch trying to control the position from guard on top but alves is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. alves has a closed guard, preventing Punch from standing up. alves is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Punch defends well. Punch would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Punch wants to stand but alves is controlling his posture from full guard. alves keeping moving, preventing Punch from controlling successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. alves avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. alves is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Excellent takedown into side control there by Punch. alves is breathing heavily. Punch wants to stand but alves is controlling his arm.

Punch is looking to stand up but alves isn't so interested in that idea. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Punch is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Punch bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Punch really doesn't want to stay on the ground with alves. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. alves is looking for a sweep. Punch wants to stand but alves is controlling his arm. alves gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. alves manages to get to full guard.
Punch won't allow alves to sweep him here. Punch must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Punch controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Punch is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Punch wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. alves gets slowly back to his feet. alves throws a wild combination but nothing lands. tiago alves is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Punch misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Punch throws a head kick that misses and alves counters with a stiff right hand. Punch throws a lazy head kick and alves counters with a series of strikes. Punch will be more careful next time no doubt. Punch is looking to land body kicks. Punch is looking to clinch but alves is avoiding it.
Punch keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Punch feints and as alves raises his hands in defense, Punch changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. alves keeping full guard, as Punch tries to pass. alves throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Ray Punch showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. alves gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Punch trying to keep a closed guard but alves is proving a slippery customer.

Both fighters are breathing heavily. Punch scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Good work there by alves. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Punch is defended easily by alves. Punch shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. alves bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! alves trying to control but Punch is working from the bottom. Punch is working an open guard so alves takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Punch keeps control of alves as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. alves really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Punch wants the takedown. alves is fighting it off but Punch persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in alves's guard against the cage. Punch is looking to stand up but alves won't let him. Punch stays in close to alves's body and controls the position. alves working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Punch. Punchis looking to pass into half guard but alves pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now alves is in guard. Punch wants to stand but alves is controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. alves controls from within his opponent's guard. Punch lands a good elbow from the bottom. Punch throwing rabbit punches from the bottom - showing the judges that he's keeping busy. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as alves accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. alves showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. alves misses with a looping right. Punch goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Punch moves into the clinch successfully.
alves has had enough of the clinch but Punch keeps him there for the moment. Punch is trying to work for a single leg takedown but alves pulls him back up using the underhooks. alves's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. alves has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Punch is working away from the top position though. Punch not landing any meaningful shots this time. Punch thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed alves's head. alves is trying to maintain the position but Punch is very close to passing his half guard. Punch lands strikes from half guard. Punch not landing any meaningful shots this time. alves manages to get to full guard.

And that's the end of the fight! Ray Punch comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Punch winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

That was a close round but I would say that Bred Arguil will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
The fight stays on the outside here - Fairtex looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Fairtex shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Arguil's guard. Fairtex stopping the sweep attempt from Arguil. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Arguil is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Fairtex has his hands clasped together but Arguil extends an breaks Fairtex's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Arguil.

Machine has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Poor strikes thrown by Machine there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Good work. Stevens is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Machine has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Stevens is proving hard to escape from. Stevens throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
