The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maia throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Maia tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but fate paws at him with a jab and circles away. A swing and a miss from fate. Maia looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. fate trying to control from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Maia throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Maia missing with the ground and pound from half guard. fate is in trouble now - Maia has advanced to mount! Maia with shots to the head and body - fate looks very uncomfortable down there. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Maia cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Maia has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of fate's face.
Maia is landing with some decent strikes but fate is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. fate is desperately trying to improve his position but Maia has a good base and remains in mount. fate tries to lock up and control but Maia gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Maia has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Maia landing strikes from the mount and fate is in trouble!

It looks like Demian Maia has been cut. fate must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Maia bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in fate's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Maia is breathing heavily. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Maia looking to sit in guard and control but fate gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Maia trying to control the position here. fate is looking to stand up but Maia won't let him. Maia looking to hit a scissor sweep but fate is one step ahead there. fate has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Maia is proving hard to escape from. fate really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Maia. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

fate tries to bum rush Maia with a series of wild strikes but Maia uses good footwork to avoid the assault. fate lands with a big left! Maia is wobbled badly! fate comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Maia to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mir tries to clinch there but King circles away.
Mir throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around King's waist but King gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mir off to one side. King throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Mir misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Mir fails with an attempt to clinch.
King lands with an overhand left.
It looks like Dan Mir has been cut. Mir moves out of range as King strikes. King throws a body punch but Mir moves out of range. King looks to score with a jab to the body but Mir is just out of range. Mir fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but King avoids it really well and circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dan Mir. That's going to take a lot out of him. King misses with a hook. King avoids a punch combination nicely.
Mir moves in looking to clinch but King pushes him off. Mir steps to the side to avoid the strikes from King. Mir fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Mir shoots for a double leg takedown but King sprawls well. He's pushed Mir's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. A punch lands to the side of Mir 's head but he takes it in his stride. A big right followed by a crushing left from King knocks Mir out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Overmars darts in and clinches Borat up against the cage. Overmars is working for takedown but Borat is calmly controlling the position for now. Overmars jumps into guard, dragging Borat to the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Overmars looking to hit a scissor sweep but Borat is one step ahead there. Borat wanted to stand there but Overmars had control of the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Borat stands and steps away. Overmars gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
That's one minute gone in the round. Overmars shoots in looking for a takedown. Borat tries to sprawl out of it but Overmars keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Borat manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Borat throws a lazy right hand but Overmars sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Overmars ducks under a wild hook from Borat. Overmars steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Borat. Overmars staying out of range there. Borat cracks Overmars with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Robbie Borat seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The fighters circling - Borat throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Overmars shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Borat pinned against the cage. Overmars blocks a jab. Overmars fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Overmars will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Charles Overmars. That's going to take a lot out of him. Overmars blocks a jab. Borat misses with a hook. Overmars shoots in and bounces Borat off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Borat wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Overmars manages to pass to side control.

Baloyi gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Baloyi tries to reverse the position but Shabadoo maintains control. Shabadoo tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Baloyi wants to control but Shabadoo is having none of it. Shabadoo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Baloyi is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Baloyi tries to get back to half guard but can't. Baloyi looks gassed! Baloyi defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Shabadoo. Baloyi can't escape the position.
Shabadoo quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Shabadoo but it's paid off an Baloyi is forced to tap! Nice work by Shabadoo.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz scores with the left hand. Mars knows he should have avoided that one. Mars smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Mars throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Diaz sees it coming and avoids it easily. Mick Mars seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Diaz's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Diaz duly obliges. Mars stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Mars thuds his right hand into Diaz's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Diaz throws a right and a left that Mars avoids nicely. Mars looks to throw the jab but Diaz is out of range. Diaz moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Mars looks to throw the jab but Diaz is out of range. A combination from Diaz does no damage. Nice shot by Diaz. Mars looks to land a right hand but Diaz moved out of range. Mars misses with a looping left. Diaz throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Diaz takes a swing at Mars's ribcage but misses. Mars throws a series of punches but Diaz avoids them all with ease. Mars getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Diaz connects with a nice looking jab.

Diaz lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Diaz takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Diaz walks into a jab.

Diaz has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Mars. Oh but Diaz has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Mars goes limp - he's gone! Diaz jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kid is looking to regain half guard here but Jackson keeps moving and retains side control. Kid gets back to half guard. Kid might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Kid looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Kid could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Jackson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kid does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Kid wants to improve his position but Jackson is controlling well.

It looks like Justin Campbell has been cut. Justin Campbell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
