Smith shoots in looking for a takedown. Valez tries to sprawl out of it but Smith keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Valez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Smith shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Valez as he jumps to the side.
Valez looks to land a left hand but Smith moved out of range nicely.
Smith tries to score a power double leg takedown but Valez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Smith somewhat.
Valez looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Valez decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Smith seems to have recovered his senses.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Smith throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Valez's waist but Valez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Smith off to one side.
Valez swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Valez cracks Smith on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Smith falls backwards against the cage. Valez follows up with more strikes that drop Smith to his knees. Valez keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Smith! This one is all over!

McGraw throws a head kick but Phants moves out of range.
Phants digs a good hook to McGraw's body.

Phants throws a right and a left that both miss.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
McGraw looks gassed!
Phants seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Phants has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
McGraw has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Phants wants to stand up but McGraw has a hold of him and won't allow it.
