2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Israel Gordon! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jorge Felipe! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Marco Blurström and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gordon changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Felipe tries to avoid it but Gordon manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Felipe to the ground. Felipe escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Gordon shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Felipe gets the takedown into side control. Felipe landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Felipe lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Gordon down.
Gordon is trying to improve his position. Gordon is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Felipe off and has taken his back! Felipe tries to roll but Gordon sticks to his back.
Gordon wants to control but Felipe is keeping busy. Felipe breaks Gordon's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Felipe wants to pass the guard but Gordon is keeping the position. Gordon working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Felipe doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Felipe manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gordon working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Felipe doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Gordon is tightening it up a little... Felipe has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Felipe reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Felipe taps out! nice BJJ there by Gordon!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brewer shoots for a double leg takedown but Nhymann sprawls well. He's pushed Brewer's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Brewer throws a series of punches but Nhymann moves out of range. Nhymann tries to close the distance and clinch but Brewer swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Brewer looks to land a combination but Nhymann avoids it well. A big left from Nhymann misses. Nhymann fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Brewer gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily so Nhymann counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nhymann trying to control but Brewer is working from the bottom. Brewer wants to get back to his feet but Nhymann passes into half guard.

Nhymann slips a nice elbow through Brewer's hands, connecting with Brewer's forehead. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nhymann is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Brewer is striking from the bottom but he's now found himself mounted! Oh dear - not enough focus on defense there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nhymann blocks Brewer's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Nhymann looking to control but Brewer is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Brewer is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Nhymann is going olschool here, as he tries to force Brewer to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Brewer shrugs it off. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nhymann looks gassed! Nhymann wants to control the pace but Brewer is squirming around nicely. Brewer is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Brewer is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Nhymann winds up and cracks Brewer with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Nhymann stops Brewer from getting back to his feet.

Brewer might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Brewer wants to get back to his feet.
Nhymann seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Brewer does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Brewer pushes Nhymann off looking to stand but Nhymann dives back in and keeps control.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Excellent takedown into side control there by Nhymann. Brewer is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Nhymann asserts his dominance and retains side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nhymann is trying to get an arm triangle but Brewer is defending well. Brewer is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Nhymann is controlling him well. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Nhymann takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Brewer fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Brewer doesn't succeed with the takedown and Nhymann holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Nhymann goes for a takedown in the clinch but Brewer prevents it.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Schwartz closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Schwartz lands in his opponent's guard. Ruutu is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Schwartz defends well. Schwartz prevents Ruutu from getting back to his feet. Schwartz stands and steps away. Ruutu gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Ruutu lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Schwartz closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Schwartz wants to control but Ruutu is keeping him busy. Ruutu pushes Schwartz away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Schwartz gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Oh, that's bad for Ruutu! Schwartz avoids the attempt from Ruutu to control. Schwartz landing shots from mount. Schwartz tries to control but Ruutu wriggling away.

Osmond Schwartz dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Ruutu tests Schwartz's chin there with a solid looking shot. Schwartz tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ruutu paws at him with a jab and circles away. Nice takedown defense from Ruutu. No joy for Schwartz on that attempt. Ruutu tries to score a power double leg takedown but Schwartz sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ruutu somewhat. Schwartz misses with a takedown and Ruutu counters with a two punch combo. Ruutu fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ruutu fails with a takedown attempt. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Ruutu swats away the attempt to clinch by Schwartz.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ruutu throws a right hand that Schwartz ducks under and follows up with a left that Schwartz also avoids with ease. Ruutu connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Schwartz's hands. Schwartz has his takedown stuffed and Ruutu counters with a right hand to the body. Jarkko Ruutu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Osmond Schwartz. Horrible takedown by Ruutu or perhaps it was just good defense by Schwartz which made him look bad. Jarkko Ruutu is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Schwartz throws a sloppy head kick and Ruutu moves out of range easily. Schwartz gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's better than Kruger was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Kruger takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Turpos throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
