The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rover throws a nice looking combination but Runner bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Runner dives in and grabs Rover's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rover pushes down on Runner's head and hops out.

Rover rushes Runner and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.

Rover has clasped his hands together around Runner's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Runner manages to get back to half guard.

Runner had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Rover is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Runner Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Rover's back instead.

Rover tries to get to his feet, scrambling wildly. Runner sees the opportunity and transitions to an armbar that forces Rover to tap. Impressive finish!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tyler Galazin.
