Uppercuts and crosses smash into Hagride's face. Hagride staggers backwards, shaken. Kalainawai looks to land a combination. Hagride sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Hagride swings for the body but Kalainawai moves out of range.
Kalainawai scores with a crisp jab that stopped Hagride in his tracks. Kaimana Kalainawai is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Kalainawai connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Kalainawai thows a left - swing and a miss! Hagride tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. A jab lands there for Kalainawai. Kalainawai is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Kalainawai lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Not much technique there but it did the business. Hagride is breathing heavily. Kalainawai cracks Hagride with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Hagride steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Kalainawai. The fighters circling - Kalainawai throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Hagride fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Kalainawai is out of range. A jab from Kalainawai does it's job there. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Van Conn swats away the attempt to clinch by Castle. Van Conn feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Castle throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Castle wants to sweep but no luck. Van Conn slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Van Conn thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Castle working for submissions but it's allowed Van Conn to get to half guard.
Van Conn is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Castle defends it well. Castle flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Castle misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Van Conn seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Castle does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Van Conn is looking for a kimura here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Van Conn working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Castle is looking for a sweep. You can see the frustration on Castle's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Van Conn is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Castle knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Castle tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Castle looking for a sweep but Van Conn has passed into full mount! Oh no! Castle can't escape the position.
Castle tries to improve his position but Van Conn has taken his back! Van Conn has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Castle tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Van Conn pushes Castle away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
