The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jakobz tests Rouge's chin there with a solid looking shot.
It looks like Robert Rouge has been cut. Jakobz fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rouge manages to avoid it. Rouge dodges the punch combination from Jakobz.
Jakobz misses with a two punch combination.
Rouge ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. A swing and a miss from Jakobz. Jakobz ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Rouge moves away. Rouge moves out of range of the body kick. Jakobz throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Rouge stumbling backwards into the ropes! Rouge bounces back off the ropes towards Jakobz, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Jakobz lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Jakobz celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Blah showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Shaw.
Shaw throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Blah sees it coming and avoids it easily. Blah looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Blah stopping the sweep attempt from Shaw. Shaw keeping full guard, as Blah tries to pass. Blah works a leg free and moves into half guard. Blah is looking for a kimura but Shaw is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Blah to get the leverage. Blah works his way into full mount! Shaw has given up his back. Will we see Blah going for some submissions?
Blah is not going to allow Shaw to sit and survive in this position. Shaw is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Blah gets his way!
That's one minute gone in the round. Blah is looking for a choke. Shaw gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Shaw manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard. Shaw really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Blah. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Blah is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Shaw defends well. Blah looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Shaw puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Shaw is trying to control. Blah wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Blah is trying to get back to full guard. Shaw seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Blah is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Shaw is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Blah moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Blah has his foot on Shaw's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Shaw works his way back into a safe position though. Blah is breathing heavily. Shaw preventing the sweep. Blah had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Shaw is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Blah Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Shaw's back instead. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Shaw controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. Shaw tries to break free.
Blah is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Shaw defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Shaw is having to fend off submission attempts from Blah, who is looking to sink in the choke. Blah doesn't have the hooks in though and Shaw manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shaw decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Blah, up you get! Shaw misses the shot to the body. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Shaw scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Shaw throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Blah on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. This has been an exciting period of action! Shaw lands an overhand right. Shaw throws the left hand but Blah avoids the punch easily. Shaw throws a right and a left that both miss. Shaw tries to work over Blah's front leg with a kick but Blah checks it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shaw works the jab nicely. Shaw fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Blah shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Shaw but Shaw pushes him off and we're back to square one. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Blah is defended easily by Shaw. Blah tries to move into range but Shaw moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Shaw slaps away a takedown attempt from Blah, before circling back to the center of the mat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Blah Blah. That's going to take a lot out of him. Shaw uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Coulfield does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Budgell shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Budgell missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Coulfield moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Budgell accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Coulfield is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Burns looks gassed! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A swing and a miss from Valentine.
