The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Copeland jr clinches. Copeland jr jumps into guard, dragging Crate to the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Crate slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Crate trying to control the position from guard on top but Copeland jr is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Copeland jr controlling Crate's posture. Copeland jr on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Copeland jr tries to get out of the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Crate trying to control but Copeland jr is working from the bottom. Copeland jr working for a triangle but Crate defends it easily.
Crate pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Copeland jr is keeping the position for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Crate throws and elbow that misses. Copeland jr uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Crate's guard. Nice move by Copeland jr! Copeland jr is looking to stand up but Crate won't let him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Crate seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Copeland jr wants to control from the top but Crate keeps moving. Copeland jr knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Crate on the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Crate pushes Copeland jr off and scrambles back to his feet.
Crate tries to close the distance and clinch up but Copeland jr swats him away and circles back towards the center. Crate closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Copeland jr really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Crate throwing shots but Copeland jr is blocking nicely. Crate in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Copeland jr tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Crate!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hopkins shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Davis pinned against the cage. Davis gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Davis misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Davis will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Davis lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Hopkins backs up against the cage.
It looks like Malcolm Hopkins has been cut. Davis stuffs the takedown. Davis swinging wilding here.
Nice jab there from Davis. Davis shoots and misses and Hopkins counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Davis's guard now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Davis is breathing heavily. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hopkins trying to control the position from guard on top but Davis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Davis keeping full guard, as Hopkins tries to pass.
That's one minute gone in the round. Davis is looking to stand up but Hopkins isn't so interested in that idea. Davis keeping moving, preventing Hopkins from controlling successfully. Hopkins is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Hopkins decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Davis, up you get! Hopkins fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Dennis Davis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Malcolm Hopkins. Davis scores with a sloppy right hand. Hopkins should have avoided that one.

and Hopkins counters with a single leg into guard. Davis didn't expect that. Hopkins stops Davis from standing up. Hopkins stands up and waves to Davis to follow him. Excellent takedown into side control there by Hopkins. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hopkins working the ground and pound from side control. Hopkins decides to stand up, so the ref orders Davis to his feet. Davis keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

and Hopkins decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Davis's guard. Davis kicks Hopkins off and gets to his feet. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Hopkins is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Hopkins thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Hopkins drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Davis manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hopkins has Davis in his guard. Davis works a leg free and moves into half guard.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Davis tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Hopkins. Hopkins looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Davis looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Hopkins trying to control but Davis postures up.

That's six minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Hopkins shoots and misses and Davis counters with a single leg into guard. Hopkins didn't expect that. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Davis avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Hopkins escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Davis gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Davis is looking to stand up but Hopkins won't let him. Davis is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Hopkins has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Davis is looking to defend but Hopkins has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Davis! Hopkins pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Davis taps out and this one is all over!
