Madsen throws a series of punches but Assaf moves out of range. Assaf moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Assaf shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Madsen counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Assaf gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Madsen counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Assaf uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Madsen. Mats Madsen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Assaf with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Madsen to score with a decent uppercut. Madsen misses with a series of wild punches.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Assaf is figuring out what he wants to do next. Assaf prevents Madsen from improving his position. Assaf is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Madsen as he works his way to full guard.

so Assaf counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Madsen is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Assaf is controlling him well. Vincent Assaf has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Assaf is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Madsen is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Assaf trying to control the position but Madsen is working away.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smasher avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Donk. Rockefeller catches Smasher right on the button with a cross. Smasher throws a lazy right hand but Rockefeller sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Smasher throws out a loose jab but Rockefeller uses good head movement to avoid it. Rockefeller keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Smasher. Smasher shoots in for a takedown but Rockefeller shows good takedown defense. Rockefeller thuds a left hand into Smasher's body. Smasher shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Smasher lands with a punch from half guard. Rockefeller is striking from the bottom but he's now found himself mounted! Oh dear - not enough focus on defense there.

Rockefeller manages to regain half guard. Good work. Smasher not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Smasher throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Rockefeller makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Rockefeller. Smasher scoring with some ground and pound. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Smasher accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Rockefeller working a defensive guard here.

Smasher won't allow Rockefeller to sweep him here. Smasher with a flurry of punches that miss.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Donk. Rockefeller catches Smasher right on the button with a cross.

Smasher clinches up against the cage. A nice right hand lands inside from Rockefeller. A frustrated look appears on Smasher's face as he tries to break the clinch. Rockefeller scores with a hook to the body. Smasher looks gassed! Smasher looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Smasher blocks an uppercut.

We're back to striking at a distance. Hercules Rockefeller has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brain Smasher. Smasher moves out of range as Rockefeller strikes. Smasher walks into a left hand. Rockefeller stuns Smasher with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Smasher slips a jab from Rockefeller. Rockefeller throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rockefeller connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Smasher tumbling to the canvas! Rockefeller pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Smasher was done - good stoppage!
