Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mike Hammer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Napier! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Bruno Hogan and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hammer is looking to clinch but Napier is avoiding it.
Napier throws a push kick but Hammer slaps the foot to one side. Hammer tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Napier misses with a head kick.
Napier throws a right hand that Hammer ducks under and follows up with a left that Hammer also avoids with ease. Napier avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Hammer. Napier wants to get back to his feet but Hammer drags him back down. You can see the frustration on Napier's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Hammer swings around for an armbar but Napier sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Hammer's guard. Hammer working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Napier doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Napier manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hammer has his foot on Napier's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Napier works his way back into a safe position though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Napier looking to pass the guard. Napier wants to control from the top but Hammer keeps moving. Hammer is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Hammer keeping full guard, as Napier tries to pass. Hammer is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Napier trying to control the position from guard on top but Hammer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hammer working for a triangle but Napier defends it easily.
Napier postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hammer is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Napier, into his guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Hammer works a leg free and moves into half guard. Napier regains full guard. Nicely done. Hammer has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Napier keeping moving, preventing Hammer from controlling successfully. Hammer is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Hammer with a flurry of punches that miss. Napier is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Hammer won't allow Napier to pass to mount. Hammer is looking for a sweep. Napier is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Hammer is working hard here to advance position. Hammer works his way to full guard. Good work. Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Napier tries to close the distance and clinch but Hammer swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Napier connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Hammer's hands. Hammer has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Napier finds it's way round the side to connect with Hammer's head. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Adam fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sole avoids it really well and circles away. Sole avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Adam shoots in but Sole avoids the takedown attempt easily. Adam wants to clinch. Sole darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Sole scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Sole goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Sole throws a sloppy head kick and Adam moves out of range easily. Sole swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Adam checks a leg kick. Adam will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Prince Adam. That's going to take a lot out of him. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Sole lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Adam has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Adam and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Adam has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Adam there as he acknowledges the shot. Nice takedown defense from Sole. No joy for Adam on that attempt.

Rizzo keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Sanchez is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but French is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. French is trying to control Sanchez's posture but Sanchez avoids it. French holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage. French parries the strikes from Sanchez easily there. Sanchez is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable French to escape.
