The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rodriguez misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Rodriguez lands a jab. Collin Thompson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Thompson shoots for a takedown but Rodriguez saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Rodriguez closes the distance and lands a one-two. Rodriguez takes the fight into the clinch. Rodriguez misses with a punch on the inside.

Rodriguez is looking to stand up but Thompson isn't so interested in that idea. Thompson passes into half guard. Thompson stops Rodriguez from getting back to his feet.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Rodriguez swinging wilding here.

Matt Rodriguez is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Thompson seems to have got his legs back now. Thompson is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Rodriguez.

But no, Shores has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
