The bell rings for round one and we are underway! jackson throws a right hand that Shuai jiao ducks under and follows up with a left that Shuai jiao also avoids with ease. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Shuai jiao!
It looks like quentin jackson has been cut. jackson throws out a powerful jab. Shuai jiao moves in looking to clinch but jackson pushes him off. Shuai jiao clinches. jackson tries to break free but Shuai jiao pushes him back against the cage. jackson looks gassed! Shuai jiao scores with a shoulder strike. Shuai jiao lands a nice uppercut. A nice left hand lands by Shuai jiao.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Akahi fails with the takedown. Akahi gets in close and instigates a clinch. An uppercut to the body lands inside from Akahi. Chavez fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Akahi escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Chavez looks to clinch and Akahi counters with a nice double leg into side control. Chavez won't be happy with that. Akahi has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Akahi shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Chavez napping and manages to drive through into side control!

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Chavez holds on and takes a little breather. Akahi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chavez swivels though and keeps the full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chavez looking to hit a scissor sweep but Akahi is one step ahead there. Chavez has control of Akahi's left arm, preventing Akahi from doing any damage. Antonio Chavez is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Akahi won't allow Chavez to sweep him here. Alika Akahi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Alika Akahi has got the better of the ground game so far. Akahi trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Chavez manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Chavez not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Chavez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Akahi swivels though and keeps the full guard. Chavez is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Chavez stands and steps away. Akahi gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Antonio Chavez. Well Chavez has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Spencer tries to clinch up. McPlum smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. McPlum tries to clinch but Spencer moves out of range. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McPlum tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Spencer was well out of range. Poor timing from McPlum. Spencer fails with the takedown and McPlum counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Edward Spencer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. McPlum avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
