The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kali fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kali lands a jab to the nose. Lennox drives through with a takedown into guard. Kali is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Kali looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Lennox passes into side control.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Lennox throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Kali is working to avoid the ground and pound but Lennox connects with a decent elbow. Lennox lands a decent elbow from side control. Lennox lands some shots froms side control. Kali tries to improve position but can't. Kali manages to work his way to half guard, despite Lennox's best efforts. Kali flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kali can do anything to dispel that myth. Kali has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lennox is working away from the top position though. Lennox throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Lennox takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Kali throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Kali leaves Lennox with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Kali fails with the takedown so Lennox counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Kali can't keep his opponent in guard - Lennox advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Lennox is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Kali wants to improve his position but Lennox is controlling well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lennox slips a nice elbow through Kali's hands, connecting with Kali's forehead. Lennox seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kali does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Kali avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Lennox. Kali tries to roll over but Lennox keeps him under control. Kali is refusing to be controlled, as Lennox sits in half guard. Nice strikes from Lennox there. Kali throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Lennox takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Lennox lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Kali is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Kali wants to stand up but Lennox is controlling him.

Lennox trying to control but Kali is working from the bottom. Kali controls Lennox momentarily but Lennox frees himself. Lennox won't allow Kali to sweep him here. Lennox scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Lennox stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kali swivels though and keeps the full guard. Lennox distracts Kali with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Lennox chips away with some ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

He's throwing a few small shots here, to keep his opponent honest. Lennox is thwarting Kali's attempts to control the position.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Lennox shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kali as he jumps to the side. Lennox takes a body punch but keeps moving. Decent striking displayed by Kali there. Kali displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lennox. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bobby Lennox. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kali catches Lennox with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Kali moves into range and connects with a jab. Damien Kali seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lennox is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Kali. A swing and a miss from Kali. Kali avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Carter falls backwards in slow motion, only propped up by the ropes! Hendrix smiles a psychotic smile as he stares down his unconscious opponent. That is a scary man.
