The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gnocci forces Brown back against the cage and clinches. Gnocci breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gnocci clinches up against the cage. Brown is trying to maintain a safe position but Gnocci gets an underhook and turns Brown into the cage. Gnocci ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Gnocci no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Gnocci is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Gnocci throwing shots but Brown is blocking nicely. Brown avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Gnocci. Gnocci moves nicely into side control. Gnocci looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Gnocci has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Brown is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Gnocci yanks on the arm and Brown is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Gnocci.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brat will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Blow dips to his left and cracks Brat with an uppercut! Brat throws a sloppy head kick and Blow moves out of range easily. Blow gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Blow doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Brat stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Blow swivels though and keeps the full guard. Blow looking to control.

Brat closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Brat is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard. Brat wants to control from the top but Blow keeps moving. Brat wants to control the pace but Blow is squirming around nicely. Brat has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Blow wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Brat.
Brat has hold of Blow's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Blow manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Brat takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Brat lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Brat punishing his opponent with strikes. Johnsso drops back, looking for a kneebar! Freud looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Freud looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Freud! Johnsso takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dag Luther will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Pointek gets off balance looking for a body kick and Luther counters by clinching up. Luther pushes off an throws an elbow but Pointek leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Luther has Pointek pressed against the cage, preventing Pointek from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Pointek breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dag Luther. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Luther, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. "Ole!" shouts Rudirez as he jumps to the side. Ayala fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rudirez sprawls well initially but Ayala persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Rudirez is trying to get back to full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rudirez moves into full guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. P I missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Wood is looking to slow P I down with leg kicks. Wood keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Wood keeps the fight on the outside. Wood lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Wood pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. P I shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Wood but Wood pushes him off and we're back to square one. P I misses with a kick to the body.

Magnum P I dominated that round. The cut man is working on Magnum P I's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Wood stuffs the takedown. P I throws a looping overhand right but Wood ducks down to avoid it. P I looks to score with a jab to the body but Wood is just out of range. Wood looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Wood throws a leg kick which misses P I's front leg but catches the back leg as P I tries to avoid it. Horrible takedown by P I or perhaps it was just good defense by Wood which made him look bad. Wood looks to clinch and P I counters with a nice double leg into side control. Wood won't be happy with that. P I throws a strike aimed at the side of Wood's head but Wood avoids it well. P I working the body and head with strikes. Wood really doesn't want to stay on the ground with P I. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Wood takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. P I working away. Wood tries to get back to half guard but can't.

He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. P I not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. P I not landing any meaningful shots this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Nice strikes from P I there. Wood is looking for a sweep. P I is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. P I seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Wood desperately trying to maintain half guard. P I looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Wood is looking to improve his position.
P I uses his free foot to push down on Wood's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Wood.
That's three minutes gone in the round. P I throws some wild stikes that Wood manages to avoid easily.
P I pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Wood taking shots to the head. P I lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Wood hang on? Wood is wriggling around trying to escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, P I cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
P I goes for an armbar but Wood turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Wood. Wood pushing down on P I's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. P I manages to get to full guard.

P I tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Wood counters with a thumping low kick. P I avoids a lazy jab quite easily. P I changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Wood looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Wood defending against the ground and pound. P I wants to control but Wood is keeping him busy. Wood is looking to reverse the position.

Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Wood is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. P I is defending well for now. P I has Wood pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. P I pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Wood tumbling to the mat - P I dives into Wood's guard. P I pushing down on Wood's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Wood regains full guard. Nicely done.
