The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bonds takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Bonds fails to land with a series of punches.
Bonds swings for the body but Montana moves out of range.

and Montana counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bonds won't be happy with that. The strikes coming from Montana are missing the target in this wave of attacks. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Excellent takedown into side control there by Kawike. Kawike lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Kawike just content to control the position. An elbow from Kawike crashes against the mat.
Nakata manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Kawike is looking for a sweep. Nakata is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nakata thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kawike's head. Kawike moves into full guard.

Nakata is working an open guard so Kawike takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Kawike feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Nakata keeping moving, preventing Kawike from controlling successfully. Kawike works a leg free and moves into half guard. Nakata actively working from the bottom here. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick misses from Shavnetski. Shavnetski throws a head kick but Gracie moves out of range.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Gracie crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Shavnetski - the referee stops the clock and Gracie gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Shavnetski. Gracie manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Shavnetski lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gracie circles away quickly and effectively. Gracie wants to clinch up but Shavnetski keeps it at a distance. Shavnetski takes a swing at Gracie's ribcage but misses. Gracie on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Shavnetski. Shavnetski obviously looking to wear him down.

Vladimir Shavnetski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Shavnetski feints and then cracks Gracie's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Gracie down. Gracie looks gassed! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Shavnetski drops Gracie with a right and a left! Shavnetski comes rushing in but Gracie regains his composure and manages to keep Shavnetski in guard.
It looks like Dick Gracie has been cut. Shavnetski drops back looking for a leg! Gracie is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gracie manages to kick Shavnetski off! Shavnetski jumps back into Gracie's guard. Shavnetski throwing strikes but missing. Shavnetski lands a couple of elbows.
