The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Roberts fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Ammousso swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Roberts circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ammousso misses with a takedown and Roberts counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Ammousso working a defensive guard here.
Ammousso keeping moving, preventing Roberts from controlling successfully. Roberts is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Roberts stays in close to Ammousso's body and controls the position. Ammousso not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Roberts throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Ammousso shoots and misses and Roberts counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Roberts is looking for a kimura but Ammousso is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Roberts to get the leverage. Roberts is breathing heavily. Ammousso trying to hold on to Roberts's head to control him but Roberts postures up.

Jordan whittiker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. whittiker throws a head kick that misses. Schaeffer shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with whittiker but whittiker pushes him off and we're back to square one. whittiker throws a leg kick but Schaeffer sees it coming and checks it nicely. Schaeffer lands a left and a right that send whittiker crashing to the mat, dazed. Schaeffer thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
