 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Benton slips under a jab. Ferraz looks to land a combination but Benton avoids it well. Ferraz on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Benton looks to land a combination but Ferraz avoids it well. Benton swings for the body but Ferraz moves out of range.

Benton scores a takedown into full mount! Ferraz is looking to get to half guard. Ferraz sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Ferraz is trying to get back to full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Benton looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Ferraz has his foot on Benton's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Benton works his way back into a safe position though. Benton lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Benton fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ferraz sprawls well initially but Benton persists and gets the takedown into half guard.  That's two minutes gone in the round. Ferraz has hold of Benton's hands but Benton slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Ferraz is looking for a sweep. Benton is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Benton wants to take a breather but Ferraz is having none of it. Benton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Benton landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Ferraz has a hand on Benton's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Benton takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ferraz is desperately trying to improve his position but Benton has a good base and remains in mount. Ferraz looks gassed! Ferraz in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Ferraz is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Benton dominating with strikes here. Benton lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Ferraz hang on? Benton prevents Ferraz from getting the reversal.

Ferraz is squirming around, avoiding Benton's attempts to control the action. Benton raining down shots from the mount! Ferraz is trying to escape the mount.
Benton postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Ferraz looks a forlorn figure.

 Ferraz is rocked! Benton lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Ferraz hang on? Ferraz is still in real trouble! Can Benton finish him? Benton loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Ferraz scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Benton land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Benton stands and salutes the crowd.

 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gore swats away the attempt to clinch by MacDonald.
MacDonald rushes Gore and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. MacDonald lands a nice elbow.
 It looks like Al Gore has been cut. MacDonald unloads a knee to the mid-section. Gore lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Nice elbow from MacDonald. MacDonald tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Gore avoids it. Gore swings wildly with an uppercut but MacDonald uses good head movement to avoid it. Gore on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
MacDonald creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Gore's defenses. MacDonald gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Nice elbow from MacDonald.
 Al Gore's cut is getting worse. MacDonald lands an elbow inside that Gore shrugs off. MacDonald lands an elbow just above Gore 's eye. MacDonald lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
 Al Gore's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. Gore takes an elbow to the forehead.
 Jeez, Al Gore's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

Blackley throws a leg kick which misses Paining's front leg but catches the back leg as Paining tries to avoid it. Paining keeps the fight on the outside.
Blackley shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Blackley showed some decent athleticism there.
Blackley looking for a submission but Paining manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.
Blackley slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Paining is trying to control the position but Blackley postures up.

Paining is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Paining managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Blackley.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Blackley tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Blackley has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Blackley throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Blackley thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
 Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Blackley lands a high kick!

Blackley lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Blackley looks to land a combination but Paining avoids it well. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Blackley misses with a wild combination.

Paining might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Blackley kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Blackley trying to control the position from guard on top but Paining is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Paining looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
 The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Blackley scores with a push kick. A combination from Blackley does no damage.

Blackley digs a good body shot into Paining's ribs. Derek Blackley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Blackley thows a body kick. Paining tries to catch it but that hurt him. Blackley throws a good cross that connects.

Ramoata is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Figueroa is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Figueroa flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Ramoata anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Figueroa and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Ramoata slips an arm under Figueroa chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Ramoata has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Ramoata is squeezing on Figueroa like an anaconda would it's prey. Figueroa fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Obrien throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Cairn looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
A nice inside leg kick there by Obrien. That's going to slow Cairn down. Obrien lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
 It looks like Argyle Cairn has been cut. Cairn is looking to clinch but Obrien is avoiding it.
Obrien closes the distance and lands a one-two. Obrien lands with a thumping leg kick.
A jab from Obrien finds it's way through Cairn's defenses. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Obrien looks to land a combination but Cairn avoids it well. Obrien misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
