The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McFANDEN tries a head kick but it misses.
jake McFANDEN seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Anderson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

so McFANDEN counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. McFANDEN forces his way into half guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. McFANDEN stops Anderson from getting back to his feet.

Gary Anderson dominated that round. The cut man is working on jake McFANDEN's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
McFANDEN is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Anderson's half guard. McFANDEN is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Anderson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time McFANDEN. Anderson pushes McFANDEN off looking to stand but McFANDEN dives back in and keeps control.

McFANDEN has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Anderson lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. McFANDEN shoots and misses and Anderson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in McFANDEN's guard now. Gary Anderson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of jake McFANDEN. McFANDEN looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Anderson tries to stand but McFANDEN is controlling from the bottom. McFANDEN trying to keep a closed guard but Anderson is proving a slippery customer.

McFANDEN with a poor takedown and Anderson counters with a two punch combo. Anderson moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Anderson lands a straight punch to the body, keeping McFANDEN at a distance.

McFANDEN looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. McFANDEN tries to clinch there but Anderson circles away.

McFANDEN has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Anderson finds it's way round the side to connect with McFANDEN's head. Anderson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. McFANDEN struggling a bit here. McFANDEN takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Anderson tries to stand but McFANDEN is controlling his head.
That's one minute gone in the round. McFANDEN gets back to half guard. McFANDEN is looking for a sweep. Anderson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Anderson is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
McFANDEN tries to get to full guard but Anderson has control of the leg. Anderson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McFANDEN on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. McFANDEN fails with the takedown and McFANDEN takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Anderson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. McFANDEN did well to prevent Anderson getting side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Anderson gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Anderson tries to score a power double leg takedown but McFANDEN sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Anderson somewhat. McFANDEN looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Anderson moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Anderson throws a left and a right that both miss
and McFANDEN counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. McFANDEN won't allow Anderson to get back to his feet. McFANDEN wants to control from the top but Anderson keeps moving. Anderson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Anderson has momentary wrist control but McFANDEN slips an elbow through the middle. Anderson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McFANDEN sitting in guard, not really doing much. McFANDEN trying to control but Anderson is working from the bottom. McFANDEN gets to his feet - Anderson follows without any prompting. McFANDEN misses with a takedown and Anderson counters with a nice uppercut.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Gary Anderson. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Anderson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hammer shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hammer was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Hammer takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Young is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Hammer tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hammer should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
That's one minute gone in the round. Young is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Hammer pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Young is trying to stand. Hammer controlling from the full mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Young is trying to get back to his feet but can't. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hammer putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hammer controlling the position easily from mount. Hammer goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Young is on top in guard.

Young's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Young tries to clinch up but Hammer circles away and keeps his distance. The fight stays on the outside here - Young looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

A kick lands to the mid section there for Young. Young jabs at Hammer's body. Young punishes Hammer's body with a nice straight punch. Young connects with a high kick. Hammer on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Young lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - Hammer can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from Young and Hammer drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by Young.

CPW leaves Murphy with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Murphy shoots in and drives through. CPW sprawls well. CPW misses with a body kick. Murphy shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with CPW but CPW pushes him off and we're back to square one. Clinical CPW has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Murphy. Murphy throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around CPW's waist but CPW gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Murphy off to one side. Murphy does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Murphy will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Murphy throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around CPW's waist but CPW gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Murphy off to one side. CPW displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Murphy. Murphy looks gassed! CPW drops Murphy with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Murphy looks back up at him and smiles so CPW waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Blaise throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

Blaise throws a leg kick which misses Abbas's front leg but catches the back leg as Abbas tries to avoid it. Ken Blaise is winning the standup battle so far. Blaise thows a body kick. Abbas tries to catch it but that hurt him. Blaise throws a leg kick which misses Abbas's front leg but catches the back leg as Abbas tries to avoid it. Muller misses the shot to the body. Muller is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Taylor had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Muller throws the left hand but Taylor avoids the punch easily. A punch combination from Taylor misses. Taylor misses with a few strikes there.

He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Smith is breathing heavily. Keenan is taking a breather. Smith says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Smith makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Smith. Keenan trying to control but Smith is working from the bottom. Smith bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Keenan's guard. Keenan tries to land a sweep but no joy. Keenan is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Smith trying to control the position from guard on top but Keenan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Keenan manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Smith looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Smith! Keenan tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Smith wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Smith is trying to get an arm triangle but Keenan is defending well. Keenan tries to bench press Smith off him but Smith keeps the position.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rex fails with a takedown attempt. Kossu slaps away a takedown attempt from Rex, before circling back to the center of the mat. Rex shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kossu pinned against the cage. Kossu gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Trevor Rex. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kossu scores with a kick to the body.
Rex shoots in for a takedown but Kossu shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Rex is breathing heavily. Kossu looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Nice sprawl there from Kossu as Rex shoots in. Kossu connects with a stiff jab that staggers Rex - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!

Paul Enforcer's cut is getting worse. Paul Enforcer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. McBride gets the takedown into side control. McBride creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. McBride lands some shots froms side control.
Paul Enforcer's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. McBride tries to move to mount but Enforcer blocks the move with his legs. Enforcer avoids any damage from the ground and pound of McBride. McBride advances nicely into full mount.
