Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Yonsil Clanger! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, El Loco Abreu! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Edson Gomes and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Abreu throws a nice looking combination but Clanger bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Clanger throws a leg kick but Abreu sees it coming and checks it nicely. Clanger throws a leg kick but Abreu sees it coming and checks it nicely. Clanger looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Abreu is fending him off so far but Clanger persists. Nope, Abreu circles away and we're back to standing. Abreu jabbing away but nothing is landing. No joy there for Abreu, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Abreu throws an overhand right that lands on Clanger's shoulder, as Clanger tries to avoid the shot. That's going to take a lot out of him. Clanger shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Clanger lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Clanger has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Clanger sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Abreu avoids a series of strikes thrown by Clanger.
Clanger is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Abreu to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Abreu shrugs it off.

The fight stays on the outside here - Clanger looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Abreu ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Clanger moves forwards but Abreu connects with a nice, crisp jab. Abreu throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Abreu throws a series of strikes that have Clanger backpedaling.
Clanger misses with a shot to the body and Abreu counters with a lovely straight right hand! Abreu fails to land with a series of punches.

Clanger throws out a leg kick but Abreu moves out of range and Clanger only half commits. Abreu slips under a jab. Abreu gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Clanger to score an easy takedown into full guard. Clanger stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Abreu swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Clanger won't allow Abreu to get back to his feet. Clanger content to stall in guard here. Clanger is looking to work some ground and pound but Abreu has wrist control. Clanger wants to control from the top but Abreu keeps moving. Clanger advances to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Abreu is looking for a sweep. Clanger is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Clanger looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Clanger sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Abreu defending well though. Abreu wants to get back to his feet. Abreu is breathing heavily. Clanger thows a huge punch but Abreu dodges it nicely.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Clanger misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Abreu tries to bum rush Clanger with a series of wild strikes but Clanger uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Abreu throws a big shot that misses. Abreu blocks a leg kick. El Loco Abreu is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Clanger drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Clanger tries to move into range but Abreu moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Abreu lands an overhand right. Clanger pushing out the jab but it's not landing. El Loco Abreu is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Clanger gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Abreu counters with a nice body shot. Abreu checks a low kick from Clanger. Clanger darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Clanger stalling. Abreu looks like he's trying to stand up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Clanger working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Clanger not landing any meaningful shots this time. Clanger wants to pass to mount but Abreu is defending the position. Abreu keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Clanger working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Abreu's thigh. Abreu counters though and makes it back to full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Abreu keeping moving, preventing Clanger from controlling successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but El Loco Abreu will probably get the nod - 10:9. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Abreu must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Clanger is pulling down on Abreu's head. It's preventing any offense from Abreu, at least for the moment. Abreu postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Abreu's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Clanger trying to control but he's not successful this time. Clanger goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Abreu is on top in guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Clanger is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Yonsil Clanger overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Clanger has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Abreu trying to stand up but can't free himself from Clanger's guard.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thomas closes the distance and clinches. Gambatesa has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Thomas is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Thomas prevents Gambatesa from breaking the clinch. Thomas breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Thomas scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Thomas swings around for an armbar but Gambatesa sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Thomas's guard. Gambatesa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Thomas swivels though and keeps the full guard. Thomas wants to stand up but Gambatesa is controlling him. Gambatesa pushing down on Thomas's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Gambatesa is looking for a kimura but Thomas is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gambatesa to get the leverage. Thomas trying to control from the bottom.
