Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Shifflett! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Leroy Brow! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, David Schapiro and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brow throws a head kick but Shifflett moves out of range.
Shifflett with a poor takedown and Brow counters with a good low kick that Shifflett was not able to check. Shifflett tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Brow closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Brow lands a nice shot to the body. Shifflett is trying to drag Brow to the mat but Brow just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Brow throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Shifflett blocks it with crossed arms. Brow lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Shifflett drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Shifflett. That's going to take a lot out of him. Brow tries a knee to the head but Shifflett blocks it.
Brow is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Shifflett can't fight it off and eventually Brow manages to take the fight to the floor. Shifflett looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Shifflett looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brow is looking to work some ground and pound but Shifflett has wrist control. Shifflett controls Brow momentarily but Brow frees himself. That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Brow wants to get up but he can't break Shifflett's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Brow accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Brow passes easily into side control. Nice work. Shifflett is looking for a sweep. Brow trying to control the position but Shifflett is working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brow is putting a hurting on Shifflett here, landing some big shots from side control. Brow decides to stand back up. Brow steps back and let's Shifflett get back to his feet. Shifflett swings widly with a right hand
and Brow counters with a flying knee. Nice. Shifflett misses with an uppercut
and Brow counters with a series of strikes. Shifflett will be more careful next time no doubt. Brow fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Shifflett has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. That kick from Brow tenderised Shifflett's leg. Shifflett is trying to keep his angry face on. Shifflett is breathing heavily. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Brow fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Shifflett. Brow rushes Shifflett and presses him up against the cage. Brow breaks from the clinch.
Brow scores with a head kick. Shifflett tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Brow clinches. Brow gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Shifflett regains guard.

Brow throws a big right hand that misses. Brow looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Shifflett trying to control the position.

Leroy Brow dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Shifflett bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Nice shot by Brow. Shifflett shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Brow finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Shifflett misses with a double jab.
Shifflett on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Brow lands a jab-cross combination. Sloppy strikes from Brow. Those never looked like landing. Nice body kick from Brow. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Brow scores with a three punch combo!
Brow closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Brow gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Brow seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Shifflett does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Shifflett is looking to improve his position.
Brow wants to free his trapped foot but Shifflett is holding on for dear life with his legs. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brow passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Shifflett! Brow looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

Shifflett is squirming around, avoiding Brow's attempts to control the action. Brow working away from the top, dropping strikes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brow looking to control and managing it successfully. Brow tries to control but Shifflett wriggling away. Brow putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Brow cracks Shifflett with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

BOOM! Brow connects with a massive shot to the dome!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Brow sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Leroy Brow has got the better of the ground game so far. Brow looking to control but Shifflett is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Brow lands a big elbow. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Leroy Brow showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Michael Shifflett seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Shifflett lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Brow circles away quickly and effectively. Shifflett fails with a takedown attempt. Shifflett will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Brow lands with a kick to the temple. Shifflett shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Brow lands a head kick. Shifflett smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Shifflett shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Brow as he jumps to the side. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Shifflett will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Shifflett. That's going to take a lot out of him. Shifflett takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Brow drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Brow loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Shifflett's guard. Shifflett is staying active underneath Brow, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Shifflett is in trouble now - Brow has advanced to mount! Shifflett is looking to get to half guard. Shifflett taking shots to the head. Shifflett might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brow trying to control but Shifflett is having none of it. Shifflett sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Leroy Brow is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Shifflett is trying to control but can't.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Leroy Brow. Shifflett lands with a hook. Brow tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Shifflett doesn't succeed with the takedown and Brow counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Brow avoids the head kick by Shifflett.

Brow scores with a one two! Shifflett had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Shifflett is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Shifflett misses with a body shot.
And that's the end of the fight! Leroy Brow comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Brow has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nash misses with a takedown attempt and Evans connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Evans swats away the attempt to clinch by Nash. Nash has his takedown stuffed and Evans counters with a lovely straight right hand! Evans fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

That's going to take a lot out of him. Nash has his takedown stuffed enabling Evans to counter with a crisp jab. Evans throws a nice looking combination but Nash bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Nash doesn't succeed with the takedown and Nash takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Evans misses with a few strikes there.

Matthews throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cake works some decent striking defense from the bottom. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Matthews accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cake keeping moving, preventing Matthews from controlling successfully. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Matthews's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Cake knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Matthews on the ground. Matthews postures up in Cake's guard and throws a big left but Cake blocks it. Cake keeping moving, preventing Matthews from controlling successfully. Nice move by Cake!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Matthews kicks Cake off and gets to his feet.
