The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fedorov throws a nice head kick!
It looks like Juhani Jarvela has been cut. Jarvela throws a body punch but Fedorov moves out of range. Jarvela throws a combination that misses and Fedorov counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Fedorov performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Fedorov is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Jarvela really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fedorov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Fedorov performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Fedorov is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Jarvela to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Jarvela shrugs it off. Fedorov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Fedorov with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Fedorov controlling the position easily from mount. Fedorov lands a big shot there that rocks Jarvela but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McCartny shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Bunoyan counters with a stiff right hand.
It looks like Benny McCartny has been cut. McCartny should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Bunoyan has McCartny up against the cage in a clinch.

Bunoyan is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. McCartny is looking to stand up but Bunoyan won't let him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
George Bunoyan has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. McCartny with a lazy takedown attempt and Bunoyan counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for McCartny! McCartny is bucking up trying to escape but Bunoyan cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Bunoyan controlling from mount. Bunoyan working away from the top, dropping strikes. Bunoyan looking for a guillotine from mount but McCartny is having none of it. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Bunoyan controlling the pace for now. McCartny tries to buck Bunoyan off but Bunoyan is having none of it. Bunoyan is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. McCartny knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. You can see the frustration on McCartny's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. McCartny is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bunoyan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bunoyan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Bunoyan stands up and beckons McCartny to his feet. McCartny tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Bunoyan counters with a shoot takedown. McCartny fights it but they end up in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bunoyan not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Bunoyan drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and McCartny dives on top into guard. Bunoyan keeping moving, preventing McCartny from controlling successfully. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bunoyan is on top in guard.

McCartny is working an open guard so Bunoyan takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Bunoyan scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Bunoyan works to advance to full mount. McCartny defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Bunoyan postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. McCartny looks a forlorn figure.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smirnov doesn't succeed with the takedown and Larsson counters with a stiff right hand.
It looks like Maks Smirnov has been cut. A low kick from Larsson is predictable there and Smirnov counters with a shoot takedown. Larsson fights it but they end up in guard. Larsson kicks Smirnov off and gets to his feet. Larsson pushes Smirnov up against the cage in a clinch. Larsson jumps into guard, dragging Smirnov to the mat.
Smirnov got a little sloppy there for a moment and Larsson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Smirnov has managed to get both his arms back between Larsson's legs - danger averted. Smirnov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. This has been an exciting period of action! Larsson has his foot on Smirnov's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think.
