2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jonathan Joester! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Sosuke Kotani and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Joester blocks the body kick.
McNutter thumps Joester with a low kick. A kick lands to the mid section there for McNutter. Joester looks gassed! McNutter tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Joester was well out of range. Poor timing from McNutter. Joester misses with an uppercut
and McNutter counters with a good low kick that Joester was not able to check. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! McNutter closes the distance and clinches up with Joester, looking for a takedown. McNutter pushes Joester against the ropes but Joester circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. McNutter throws a quick inside leg kick. McNutter shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Joester is trying to defend but McNutter finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. McNutter is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

It looks like Jonathan Joester has been cut. McNutter landing strikes from the mount and Joester is in trouble! McNutter throwing strikes here but Joester is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Joester takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Poor strikes thrown by McNutter there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

It looks like Matt Silva has been cut. Matt Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Silva throws a poor cross that misses
and Silva takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Silva thuds his right hand into Franklin's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Silva will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Franklin just misses with a punch to the body.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Franklin. Franklin throws a head punch that misses. Silva is trying to drag Franklin to the mat but Franklin just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there. Shante Franklin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Silva. Silva looks gassed! Franklin misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Franklin just leaning against Silva, taking a breather. Franklin throws a head punch that misses. Franklin digs a right hand underneath Silva's ribcage. Silva let out a lung full of air as it connected. Franklin stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Silva takes a shot to the head. Silva falls back against the ropes and Franklin unloads with a barrage of strikes! Silva is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the ropes! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Franklin screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!

Jones is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Jones misses with a hook
and Grzyb counters with a nice double leg into half guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Grzyb wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jones keeps working. Jones is pressing down on Grzyb's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Grzyb seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Grzyb wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving. Grzyb has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Not particularly brutal. Grzyb tries to free his leg and advance position but Jones is retaining full guard. Grzyb trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Grzyb is looking to work some ground and pound but Jones has wrist control. Jones preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Grzyb throwing strikes from guard but Jones blocks nicely. Jones has his foot on Grzyb's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Grzyb works his way back into a safe position though.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Matsumoto closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Lima quickly recovers to half guard. Lima wants to get back to full guard.
