The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fernandes rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Thurber counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
It looks like Bryan Fernandes has been cut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Fernandes rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Thurber moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Nice takedown defense from Fernandes. No joy for Thurber on that attempt. Fernandes misses with a shot to the body and Thurber counters by clinching up. Thurber has Fernandes pressed against the cage, preventing Fernandes from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Fernandes wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Thurber has him pressed against the cage. A frustrated look appears on Fernandes's face as he tries to break the clinch. Fernandes is trying to break free. Fernandes tries to break the clinch but Thurber is controlling the position. Thurber lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Fernandes or not. Fernandes looks gassed! Fernandes wants to get back to striking at distance but Thurber won't allow it.

Bryan Fernandes's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters. Fernandes is trying to break the clinch but Thurber is controlling him. Thurber pulls guard. Thurber pushes Fernandes off and scrambles back to his feet.
Thurber tries to score a power double leg takedown but Fernandes sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Thurber somewhat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jordan Thurber. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fernandes darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Thurber closes the distance and clinches up with Fernandes, looking for a takedown. Thurber pushes Fernandes against the cage but Fernandes circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Thurber steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Fernandes.

Dangerfield tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Zaczekaj was well out of range. Poor timing from Dangerfield. A slow jab from Zaczekaj misses its intended target. He tries to recover but Zaczekaj pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Dangerfield is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Beefcake throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Spock tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Beefcake is in Spock's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Beefcake trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Beefcake throws and elbow that misses. Spock uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Beefcake's guard. Nice move by Spock! Spock has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Spock looking to pass the guard. Beefcake can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Spock controls the pace. Spock preventing the sweep. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Spock got a little sloppy there for a moment and Beefcake has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Spock has managed to get both his arms back between Beefcake's legs - danger averted. Spock pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Beefcake is keeping the position for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Beefcake lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Spock! Beefcake in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Spock tries to get back to half guard but can't. Beefcake sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Beefcake jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Spock is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Spock and Beefcake has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Beefcake wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Spock, who protects the arm well. Spock is looking to regain half guard here but Beefcake keeps moving and retains side control. Beefcake tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Beefcake is looking to take a break and control but Spock is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Spock avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Beefcake. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Beefcake taking a break here but Spock is having none of it and regains half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brutas Beefcake dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Beefcake is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Beefcake looks to throw an elbow but misses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Beefcake tries for a takedown. No joy.
Mister Spock has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brutas Beefcake. Beefcake looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Spock lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Spock with a knee to the head.

Beefcake postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Beefcake working some strikes from top position. Beefcake has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Spock lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Beefcake! Beefcake tries to lock up and control but Spock gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Spock knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Beefcake on the ground. Spock has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Spock will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Beefcake wants to try and get back to his feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Dude lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Fighter has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Fighter and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Fighter moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Dude shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Fighter pulls Dude in close to prevent any damage. Fighter tries to land a sweep but no joy. Dude stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fighter swivels though and keeps the full guard. Dude postures up.
Dude has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Fighter keeping moving, preventing Dude from controlling successfully.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. A head kick by Fighter misses and Dude connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Fighter is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Dude knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. You can see the frustration on Dude's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fighter might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Dude kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Dude tries to buck Fighter off but Fighter is having none of it.

Fighter working the ground and pound but Dude is defending the strikes. Fighter is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Fighter is looking to take a break and control but Dude is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
