Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between joe Blow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aldo Rocha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). joe Blow had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 157.4lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. joe Blow has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aldo Rocha! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rocha is looking to clinch. Rocha fails with an attempt to clinch.
Blow rushes Rocha and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Blow pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Rocha tries to clinch up and Blow cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Rocha scores with a kick to the midsection. Rocha throws a head kick but Blow moves out of range.

Aldo Rocha seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rocha tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Blow paws at him with a jab and circles away. Blow shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rocha's guard. Rocha wants to get back to his feet but Blow is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Rocha is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rocha lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Rocha throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Blow's head. Rocha showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Blow.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Blow is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Rocha can't fight it off and eventually Blow manages to take the fight to the floor. Rocha looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Rocha pushes Blow off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A momentary lapse in concentration from Rguy enables Antti to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Rguy manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Rguy bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Antti's guard. Rguy wanted to stand there but Antti had control of the position. Rguy won't allow Antti to sweep him here. Rguy wanted to stand there but Antti had control of the position. A telegraphed right hand from Antti misses the target. Rguy walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Antti comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Manuel is looking to land body kicks. Hodges will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
An inside leg kick from Hodges misses. Manuel moves out of range of the body kick from Hodges.
Manuel connects with a jab. Hodges misses with a leg kick and Manuel counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Manuel is keen to just control but Hodges is a slippery customer. Manuel not landing any meaningful shots this time. Manuel uses his free foot to push down on Hodges's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Hodges. Manuel throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Hodges is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Manuel is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Matt Manuel has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Manuel waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Hodges. Hodges throws a low kick but Manuel avoids it.

Hodges defending well as Manuel loads up on a big left hand. Hodges shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Manuel misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hodges.
Hodges throws a low kick but Manuel moves out of range easily. Manuel cracks Hodges with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Manuel misses with a looping left. Manuel thows a body shot but no joy. Manuel scores with a crisp jab that stopped Hodges in his tracks. Manuel blocks a head kick by Hodges.
Manuel tries to close the distance and clinch but Hodges swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Hodges goes for a high kick. It partially lands. A leg kick checked by Manuel. A head kick misses from Manuel. Hodges feints and then cracks Manuel's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Manuel down. Hodges throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Gerald Hodges seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hodges slaps away a takedown attempt from Manuel, before circling back to the center of the mat. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Manuel checks a leg kick. Hodges throws a leg kick that is checked and Manuel counters with a takedown into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Manuel trying to control the action but Hodges is working from the bottom. Hodges wants to get back to his feet but Manuel drags him back down. Manuel takes a little break here. Hodges wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Hodges is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Manuel off and has taken his back! Hodges is trying to stick to Manuel's back but Manuel is turning into Hodges. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Hodges's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Manuel. Manuel tries to free his leg and advance position but Hodges is retaining full guard. Manuel postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Hodges tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Hodges working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Manuel. Manuel working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Hodges keeping moving, preventing Manuel from controlling successfully. Manuel sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hodges's guard. Manuel seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hodges does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Manuel throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Manuel stalling. Manuel trying to control the action but Hodges is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hodges is looking to escape. Manuel not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Hodges keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Sackett punishes Tachia's body with a nice straight punch. Sackett lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Tachia backs up against the cage.
Sackett connects with a body shot. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sackett swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Tachia. Tachia darts in trying to clinch letting Sackett counter with a right hand.

Torres looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Torres moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Fertit chips away with some ground and pound. Fertit showing good wrestling skills to control the position. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Fertit has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Fertit trying to control but Torres is working from the bottom.
