Undercard bout

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roger Mallao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexis Mandapat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alexis Mandapat told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Roger Mallao!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Alexis Mandapat!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Sam Margolis and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mallao shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mandapat sprawls well. Mandapat wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mallao gets slowly back to his feet.
Mallao changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mandapat tries to avoid it but Mallao manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mandapat to the ground. Mandapat escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Mandapat shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mallao as he jumps to the side.
Mallao keeps the fight on the outside.
Mandapat shoots in looking for a takedown. Mallao tries to sprawl out of it but Mandapat keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mallao manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Mallao has Mandapat up against the cage in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mallao tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Horrible takedown by Mandapat or perhaps it was just good defense by Mallao which made him look bad.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Roger Mallao.

Tog throws a combination that misses
and Blake counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

It looks like Neil Tog has been cut.
Tog misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Tog looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Blake is fending him off so far but Tog persists. Nope, Blake circles away and we're back to standing.
Blake thows a body shot but no joy.
Tog should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Blake connects with a body shot that sends Tog's belly button to the back.
Tog looks gassed!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Blake lands a big uppercut and Tog crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Tog looks OK. Blake waves Tog back to his feet!

Tog is rocked!
Tog drops his hands momentarily. Blake doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Tog staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Tog doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.
