A momentary lapse in concentration from Rude enables Smash to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Rude manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vachon shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Turk counters with a straight right hand.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Turk crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Vachon - the referee stops the clock and Turk gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Vachon. Turk manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Turk throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

letting Turk counter with a right hand.

No joy there for Vachon, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Turk has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Vachon is working away from the top position though.

Vachon postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Turk is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Vachon, into his guard.

Well Turk has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
