The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hartt dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Hartt has his takedown stuffed and Noulin counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Hartt misses with a takedown attempt and Noulin counters with a nice uppercut. Hartt closes the distance but Noulin moves to the side and Noulin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Noulin scores with a takedown into Hartt's guard. Noulin lands a couple of elbows. Noulin stands up over Hartt, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Noulin loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Noulin stays in close to Hartt's body and controls the position. Noulin sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hartt's guard. Noulin working over Hartt with some ground and pound. Hartt looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Hartt has hold of Noulin's hands but Noulin slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Noulin is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Hartt is trying to escape the mount.

Fitzgibbon tries to break free but O Shea pushes him back against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fitzgibbon is trying to push O Shea away but O Shea has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. O Shea prevents Fitzgibbon from breaking the clinch. and Kerjalainen counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Kerjalainen fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Mercer checks it well. A head kick from Kerjalainen lands but Mercer takes it in his stride.
It looks like Vic Mercer has been cut. Kerjalainen gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Mercer has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Kerjalainen. The fighters circle, before Kerjalainen throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Mercer's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Kerjalainen lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!

Venture seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Chikatilo does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Chikatilo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Chikatilo wants to control but Venture is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Venture feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Chikatilos jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Venture cracks Chikatilo with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Venture stuffs the takedown.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Chikatilo misses with an uppercut
and Venture counters with a shoot takedown. Chikatilo fights it but they end up in guard. Venture trying to control but Chikatilo is working from the bottom. Venture throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Chikatilo wants to stand and escape but Venture is having none of it. Chikatilo trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Venture stays in close to Chikatilo's body and controls the position. Chikatilo looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Venture trying to control the position from guard on top but Chikatilo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Venture preventing the sweep. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Venture lands a couple of elbows. Chikatilo bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Venture's guard. Chikatilo wants to pass the guard but Venture is keeping the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Dean Venture will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Dean Venture's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Chikatilo slaps away a takedown attempt from Venture, before circling back to the center of the mat. Venture comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Chikatilo throws the kick towards the body but Venture avoids it. A slow jab from Venture misses its intended target. Venture just misses with a punch to the body.

Chikatilo throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Venture escapes and throws Chikatilo's legs to the side, diving into side control! Venture trying to control the action but Chikatilo is working from the bottom. A lull in the action here as Venture stalls from top position. You can see the frustration on Chikatilo's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Dean Venture overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Venture controlling from side mount. Chikatilo tries to improve position but can't. Venture working the ground and pound from side control. Venture working away. Chikatilo pushes Venture away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Venture gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Venture happy to just control the position for now. Chikatilo struggling a bit here.

The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Chikatilo with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Chikatilo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Chikatilo gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Chikatilo is trying to keep Venture in close.

Chikatilo sees it coming and avoids it easily. A left and a right from Venture both land. Nice combination. Chikatilo gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Chikatilo not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Jay Davis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lawrence shoots in looking for a takedown but Davis manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lawrence's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Davis moves to clinch but Lawrence breaks away and Lawrence decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Davis's guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Davis wants to get back to his feet but Lawrence is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Davis can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Lawrence controls the pace. Davis is looking to stand up but Lawrence isn't so interested in that idea. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Puno Jr throws a leg kick and King counters with a low kick, right behind Puno Jr 's knee. Puno Jr steps to the side to avoid the strikes from King. Puno Jr fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt King. King looks gassed!
