0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Maksim Kvardickii! The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Sergei Dronov and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Surov misses with a body shot.
Surov moves into the clinch. A frustrated look appears on Kvardickii's face as he tries to break the clinch. Surov goes for a takedown attempt but Kvardickii pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Kvardickii has Surov pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Kvardickii pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Surov tumbling to the mat - Kvardickii dives into Surov's guard. Surov is pulling down on Kvardickii's head. It's preventing any offense from Kvardickii, at least for the moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Kvardickii keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Surov.

Kvardickii wants to clinch and Surov counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Surov trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Surov won't allow Kvardickii to sweep him here. Surov sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kvardickii's guard.

Kvardickii really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Surov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Surov is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kvardickii defends it well. Surov passes the guard and advances to mount! Surov throws some wild stikes that Kvardickii manages to avoid easily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Surov working for a guillotine from mount but Kvardickii is in no mood to give up.

Surov swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Kvardickii is now in Surov's guard. A big mistake from Surov there, giving up the dominant position! Kvardickii must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Surov wants to sweep here but Kvardickii controlling him for the moment. Surov seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Surov is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Surov is looking to stall here but Kvardickii recovers full guard. Surov drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kvardickii looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kvardickii looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kvardickii!

Surov pushes down on Kvardickii's leg and manages to get into half guard. Surov is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kvardickii is just riding it out for now. Surov eventually gives up the hold. Surov thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Surov perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
That's one minute gone in the round. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Surov connects with a nice short shot to Kvardickii's temple. Surov is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Surov is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Kvardickii's shoulder. That is not cool. Surov tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kvardickii is not content to let Surov control the position. Surov wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kvardickii, who protects the arm well. Surov tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Surov has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kvardickii prevents Surov from improving position. Surov has hold of Kvardickii's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Kvardickii tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Surov cranks the arm and Kvardickii screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Kvardickii, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Jay Clear had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 172.9lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Magonn Morguss will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Clear throws a head kick that misses. Clear misses with a hook. Clear misses with a body kick. Morguss takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Clear throws a nice looking combination but Morguss bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Morguss feints and as Clear raises his hands in defense, Morguss changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Clear wants to get back to his feet but Morguss passes into half guard.
Morguss is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Morguss perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Clear tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Morguss manages to move to mount!
Clear is breathing heavily. Morguss thowing shots but they're missing.

Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Morguss has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Morguss taking a breather here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Clear tries to escape but Morguss is in control. Morguss advances to full mount. Morguss unloads with some shots from mount but Clear bucks and avoids them well.
Clear takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Morguss controlling the position easily from mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Magonn Morguss dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Morguss shoots in but Clear avoids the takedown attempt easily. A telegraphed right hand from Clear misses the target. Clear throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Clear jabbing away but nothing is landing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Clear tries to sprawl but Morguss drives through with a takedown into half guard. Morguss stops Clear from getting back to his feet.
Clear keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Morguss passes the guard and advances to mount! Morguss is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Clear is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Clear flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Morguss anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Clear and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Morguss slips an arm under Clear chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Morguss has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Morguss is squeezing on Clear like an anaconda would it's prey. Clear fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

It looks like Sergei Kalashnikov has been cut. Kalashnikov tries for a takedown but Ubiistia circles away easily and Kalashnikov takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ubiistia throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Sergei Kalashnikov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ubiistia throws a looping overhand right but Kalashnikov ducks down to avoid it. Kalashnikov with a lazy takedown attempt and Ubiistia counters with a crisp one two that drops Kalashnikov! Ubiistia thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Kalashnikov to his feet! Kalashnikov is in big trouble!
Kalashnikov is rocked! That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sergei Kalashnikov. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ubiistia lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stefaniak shoots in and bounces Gabilog off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gabilog can do anything to dispel that myth. Stefaniak is looking to work some ground and pound but Gabilog has wrist control. Stefaniak looking to sit in guard and control but Gabilog gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. It looks like Syete Gabilog has been cut. No luck for Gabilog with that takedown attempt. Franz Stefaniak has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Syete Gabilog. Gabilog looks gassed! Stefaniak scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Stefaniak working the ground and pound. Franz Stefaniak overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Stefaniak is wriggling around trying to escape.
Stefaniak is working hard here to advance position. Gabilog is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Stefaniak to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Stefaniak shrugs it off.

That was a close second round but I would say that Franz Stefaniak will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Syete Gabilog's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!
