Ortiz misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Hores fails to land with a series of punches.
Ortiz uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hores.
Ortiz shoots in for a double leg but Hores sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Hores stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hores wants it to stay on the feet.
Morse Hores has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tito Ortiz.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Contini lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Bob changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Contini tries to avoid it but Bob manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Contini to the ground. Contini escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Contini throws a sloppy head kick and Bob moves out of range easily.
Contini dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Bob. That did some damage!
Contini just misses with a punch to the body.
Bob swings away with a body shot that misses
and Contini counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Contini slaps away a takedown attempt from Bob, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Bob fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Contini manages to avoid it.
Bob lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Contini circles away quickly and effectively.
Contini moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Bob throws a nice looking combination but Contini bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Helber has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Helber and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Helber throws a lazy right hand but David sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

David throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
David lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
David dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Helber. That did some damage!

Helber misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Helber fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
David has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Helber finds it's way round the side to connect with David's head.

Helber is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
David lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Helber at a distance.
Jan David is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

David fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Helber looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Helber lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but David circles away quickly and effectively.

Jan David comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well David has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Main event

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Trent Pope (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pope comes into the arena with Coming Home ft Skylar Grey blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pope tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Mendez tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
You can see the frustration on Pope's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Pope is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Mendez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mendez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

We're going to have a standup here because Trent Pope wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Mendez walks forward, straight into a front kick from Pope.

Trent Pope seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mendez gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Pope.
Pope ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Trent Pope is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Mendez is breathing heavily.
Pope fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Mendez looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pope is looking to land body kicks.
The fighters circle, before Pope throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Mendez's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Pope lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!
