Chagaev lands a left and a right that send Oliveira crashing to the mat, dazed. Chagaev thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Oliveira is rocked! Chiwawa Chagaev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Oliveira looks gassed! and Chagaev counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Oliveira! He's just covering up as Chagaev starts to tee off till referee steps in and stops the fight!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nielsen throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
It looks like Victor Soares has been cut. Soares tries to keep at a distance but Nielsen has taken the fight into the clinch. Nielsen misses with a knee to the head. Soares is trying to break free. Soares looking for a takedown. Nielsen gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Soares.
Soares looks gassed! Nielsen tries a knee to the head but Soares blocks it.
Nielsen misses with an elbow over the top. Nielsen has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Soares is trying to keep an underhook but Nielsen manages to get the takedown into half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Nielsen drops an elbow to the side of Soares's head. Nielsen working the head and body with strikes. Nielsen seems to be looking for submissions.
Soares regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Nielsen. Nielsen makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Nielsen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Soares swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Soares is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Soares manages to kick Nielsen off! Nielsen jumps back into Soares's guard. Nielsen gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Soares is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Nielsen throws a nice outside leg kick. Soares takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Nielsen rushes Soares and presses him up against the cage. Soares takes a knee to the side of the body. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Nielsen lands an elbow just above Soares 's eye. Nielsen manages to break the clinch.

Soares gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Nielsen counters with a good low kick that Soares was not able to check. Mikkel Bukholt Nielsen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Victor Soares. Soares tries to clinch but Nielsen moves away and Nielsen counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Nielsen is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Nielsen perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Nielsen decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Nielsen clinches. Nielsen scores with an uppercut up the middle. Nielsen gets a trip takedown into half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Nielsen seems to be working for a kimura but Soares defends the submission attempt. Soares looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Nielsen pushes past his half guard into mount!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nielsen moves to the back. Nielsen is looking for the choke from the back position but Soares is controlling his hands well. Nielsen has good solid back control here. Soares tries to escape but Nielsen has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Soares is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Nielsen working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
