Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gerard Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Henry Mabutu! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Donatello Bradman and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mabutu throws a looping overhand right but Jones ducks down to avoid it. Mabutu swings widly with a right hand
and Jones decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mabutu's guard. Mabutu has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Jones off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Jones throws a wild body kick that Mabutu sees coming a mile off. Mabutu takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Jones tries to clinch and Mabutu counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jones won't be happy with that. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Jones is looking for a sweep. Jones is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Mabutu has just dragged him back down to the mat. Jones tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mabutu wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Mabutu scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Jones to see if he's OK. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mabutu lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Mabutu working the head with strikes. Mabutu landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mabutu working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Mabutu connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Jones some visible discomfort.
Jones is rocked! Mabutu scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Jones is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Mabutu can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Coleman throws a series of punches but The Ripper avoids them all with ease. Mark Coleman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Coleman closes the distance looking to clinch and The Ripper counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by The Ripper. The Ripper drops back looking for a leg! Coleman is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Coleman manages to kick The Ripper off! The Ripper jumps back into Coleman's guard. Coleman preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Coleman wants to stand up but The Ripper is controlling him. The Ripper throws a big right hand that misses. The Ripper is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. The Ripper lands a couple of digs.
It looks like Mark Coleman has been cut. The Ripper has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. This has been an exciting period of action! The Ripper gets to his feet and stands over Coleman, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Coleman felt that one! The Ripper unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Coleman from any more punishment!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Excellent takedown into side control there by Nitschke. Nitschke is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Dinero's shoulder. That is not cool. Dinero regains half guard. Nitschke thows a huge punch but Dinero dodges it nicely.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Damian Nitschke hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Nitschke misses with a hook. Damian Nitschke seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nitschke tries to clinch but Dinero is having none of it. Dinero lands a jab to the head.
Dinero avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Dinero will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nitschke throwing strikes here but Dinero is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Dinero is trying desperately to improve position. Nitschke wants to control the pace but Dinero is squirming around nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nitschke lands a heavy elbow. Dinero can't escape the position.
Dinero holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Nitschke tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Nitschke takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Nitschke can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Dinero is looking to escape. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Nitschke with shots to the head and body - Dinero looks very uncomfortable down there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nitschke throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Nitschke working for a guillotine from mount but Dinero is in no mood to give up. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nitschke can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Dinero is looking to escape.

Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Nitschke looking for a guillotine from mount but Dinero is having none of it. Nitschke wants to control the pace but Dinero is squirming around nicely. Nitschke lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Dinero hang on? This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Dinero tries to reverse the position but Nitschke maintains control. Nitschke looking to ground and pound but Dinero is blocking nicely. Nitschke looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

Nitschke closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Dinero to the mat! Dinero manages to get full guard. Nitschke trying to control but Dinero is working from the bottom. Nitschke sitting in guard, not really doing much. Nitschke thows a big elbow that misses. Nitschke stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dinero swivels though and keeps the full guard. Nitschke wants to control from the top but Dinero keeps moving. Nitschke advances position into side control! Dinero avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Nitschke. Nitschke tries to score with some ground and pound. Dinero controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Dinero avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Nitschke.
That's one minute gone in the round. The ground and pound from Nitschke seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Dinero is looking for a sweep. Dinero is trying to control Nitschke's posture but Nitschke avoids it. Damian Nitschke has got the better of the ground game so far. Nitschke has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Dinero is working away from the top position though. Nitschke slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Nitschke slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Nitschke in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. A lull in the action here as Nitschke stalls from top position. Dinero tries to improve position but can't. Dinero is working hard here to advance position. Nitschke working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Dinero being controlled for a moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Damian Nitschke showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Nitschke will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dinero wants to control from the top but Nitschke keeps moving. Dinero won't allow Nitschke to sweep him here. Dinero tries to free his leg and advance position but Nitschke is retaining full guard. Dinero got a little sloppy there for a moment and Nitschke has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dinero has managed to get both his arms back between Nitschke's legs - danger averted. Dinero thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Dinero is fighting to break Nitschke's control of his arms but Nitschke is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Nitschke looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Nitschke accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Dinero preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Nitschke throwing strikes from guard but Dinero blocks nicely. Dinero working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nitschke doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nitschke manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Dinero looking to control.
Nitschke is looking to work some ground and pound but Dinero has wrist control. Nitschke must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Nitschke working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Nitschke throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dinero works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Nitschke throwing strikes but missing. Nitschke is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Nitschke won't allow Dinero to sweep him here. Nitschke stands and throws Dinero's legs to the side, diving into side control. Nitschke takes a little break here. Dinero wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Paulo Dinero has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Damian Nitschke is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Anderson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Bugasto is looking to stand up but Anderson isn't so interested in that idea. Anderson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Matador comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. xing ling looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Matador bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. xing ling takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Matador is looking to take a break and control but xing ling is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Matador scoring with punches from side control. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Matador throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. xing ling trying to control but Matador flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back! Matador controls the action. Matador lands strikes to the head. Matador somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back. Matador will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. xing ling is covering up but some of the strikes from Matador are getting through and doing damage.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Stanley looks to land a right hand but Cross moved out of range.
