The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cheddars shoots in for a double leg but Handel sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Handel blocks a head kick by Cheddars.
Handel scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
It looks like Dic Cheddars has been cut. Cheddars moves in looking to clinch but Handel pushes him off. Cheddars wants to slow Handel down by chopping away at his legs. Handel cracks Cheddars with a big right hand and Cheddars goes down!
Cheddars is rocked! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Handel looking to pass the guard. Cheddars is still in real trouble! Can Handel finish him? Handel stopping the sweep attempt from Cheddars. Handel passes easily into side control. Nice work. Handel scores with a couple of short elbows. A big shot lands for Handel! That's hurt Cheddars! Will he recover? Handel fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Burton gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Hummel. Hummel misses with a body shot.
Burton with a body punch. A glancing blow. Hummel walks into a jab. Burton showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hummel.
Burton uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Hummel has time to react. Hummel shoots and misses and Burton counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hummel working a defensive guard here.
Burton stands and throws Hummel's legs to the side, diving into side control. Hummel is looking for a sweep.

Burton prevents Hummel from improving his position. Hummel has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Burton is working away from the top position though. Burton is looking to take a break and control but Hummel is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. A jab from Burton does it's job there. Burton feints and as Hummel raises his hands in defense, Burton changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Hummel looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Hummel keeping moving, preventing Burton from controlling successfully. Hummel looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Hummel wants to hit a switch here but Burton passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Hummel there!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Burton lands an elbow. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Burton scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Hummel doesn't seem bothered though. Hummel fails with an attempt to clinch.
Hummel on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Hummel fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Hummel throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Hummel tries to close the distance and clinch up but Burton swats him away and circles back towards the center. Burton gets tackled into the cage by Hummel. Hummel maintains the clinch. Hummel tries to pull guard but Burton holds him up against the cage and eventually Hummel drops back down to his feet.
Hummel gets through Burton's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Burton works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Burton wants to pass to mount but Hummel is defending the position. Hummel throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Burton manages to pass to side control. Burton prevents Hummel from escaping the position. Burton is looking to take a break and control but Hummel is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Burton connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Hummel some visible discomfort.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hummel tries to get back to half guard but can't. Burton trying to control the action but Hummel is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hummel is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Burton off and has taken his back! Burton tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Burton is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. It looks like Hummel is going to stand back up.
Burton moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Hummel working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Burton's head. Fred Burton is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Hummel wants to get up but he can't break Burton's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Burton manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

and Ketchup counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Thomas's guard now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Thomas keeping moving, preventing Ketchup from controlling successfully. Ketchup would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Thomas looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ketchup is one step ahead there. Thomas has his foot on Ketchup's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ketchup works his way back into a safe position though. Ketchup is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Ketchup is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Thomas avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Thomas is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Ketchup trying to control the position from guard on top but Thomas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Thomas wants to stand and escape but Ketchup is having none of it.
OK we're going to have a standup here. John Ketchup hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. A slow jab from Thomas misses its intended target.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ketchup rushes Thomas and presses him up against the cage. Ketchup crunches a lovely knee into Thomas's ribcage. A shot in the inside from Thomas. Thomas effectively controlling the action here. Ketchup is trying to break the clinch but Thomas is controlling him. Nice body punch from Thomas. Ketchup fails to pull guard.

He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ketchup doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ketchup manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Thomas is looking to sinch up a triangle. Ketchup throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Thomas's body to avoid the submission. Thomas has instead reached around Ketchup's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Thomas arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery. Kenzie takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Kenzie throws a right hand that Tremain ducks under and follows up with a left that Tremain also avoids with ease. Tremain slaps away a takedown attempt from Kenzie, before circling back to the center of the mat. peter Tremain seems to be getting the better of the standup. Horrible takedown by Kenzie or perhaps it was just good defense by Tremain which made him look bad.
