The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ortiz misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Baldwin is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Ortiz is not content to let Baldwin control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Baldwin is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Ortiz is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Baldwin is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That was a close round but I would say that Bill Baldwin will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Joell Ortiz's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Baldwin throws a right hand that Ortiz ducks under and follows up with a left that Ortiz also avoids with ease. Baldwin misses with a left hand and Ortiz counters with a nice uppercut.

Baldwin tries to grapple but his opponent circles letting Ortiz counter with a right hand. Baldwin wants to clinch up but Ortiz keeps it at a distance. Baldwin ducks under a wild hook from Ortiz. Some wild striking there from Baldwin.
Ortiz throws a nice looking combination but Baldwin bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Ortiz misses with the combination.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Ortiz throws a left and a right that both miss
and Baldwin counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ortiz won't be happy with that. Ortiz tries to bench press Baldwin off him but Baldwin keeps the position. Baldwin has hold of Ortiz's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Ortiz seems comfortable defending it but Baldwin has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Ortiz is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Ortiz is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Baldwin couldn't care less - he's delighted!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Maddox was covering up waiting for the punch and Santi finishes the takedown easily into guard. Maddox controlling Santi's posture. Santi postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Maddox is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Santi, into his guard. Maddox has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Santi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Maddox postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santi looking for a sweep. Not yet Santi, not yet. Maddox with a flurry of punches that miss. Maddox thows a big elbow that misses. Maddox loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Maddox throws and elbow that misses. Santi uses the momentum to reverse the position. That could spell trouble for Maddox!

Maddox stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Santi swivels though and keeps the full guard. Maddox stopping the sweep attempt from Santi. Santi looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Santi keeping full guard, as Maddox tries to pass.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Santi working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Maddox. Santi has control of Maddox's left arm, preventing Maddox from doing any damage. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Maddox seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Maddox circles away from the clinch attempt and Santi takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Santi swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Santi controlling the action here. Santi trying to control from half guard but Maddox is working away. Chris Santi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Santi prevents Maddox from improving his position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Santi tries to pass to full mount but Maddox defends it. Santi thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Maddox's head. Santi is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Maddox is trying to maintain the position but Santi is very close to passing his half guard.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Nice body punch from Maddox.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Maddox shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Santi but Santi pushes him off and we're back to square one. Maddox drives through with a takedown into Santi's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Santi is looking for a triangle but Maddox pushes his legs off easily.
Maddox looking to sit in guard and control but Santi gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Santi thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Maddox tries to land a sweep but no joy.
And that's the end of the fight! Chris Santi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Maddox has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Shain stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Cabbanas throws up his legs and catches Shain in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Shain tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Cabbanas! That came out of nowhere!
