Silk closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Silk lands in his opponent's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Silk lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Silk has gone for a leg lock! Lanier slips out almost immediately though and dives into Silk's guard.
Silk controls Lanier momentarily but Lanier frees himself.
Lanier wants to pass the guard but Silk is keeping the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lanier accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Lanier tries to free his leg and advance position but Silk is retaining full guard.
Lanier is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Lanier wants to control from the top but Silk keeps moving.

Silk isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Lanier stacks Silk on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Lanier!

Lanier is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Silk is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
