1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cane Jones! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, William Peck and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones doesn't succeed with the takedown and Oliphant counters with a left and a right that stings Jones. Oliphant swinging wildly here.
Oliphant shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Oliphant showed some decent athleticism there. Oliphant lands with a punch from half guard. Jones keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Oliphant trying to control from half guard but Jones is working away. Oliphant has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Darsley postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Darsley must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Darsley working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Darsley trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Darsley trying to control the position from guard on top but Lunn is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Darsley really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lunn. 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alpa Chino! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Klaus Engbloom! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Yves DeLean and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chino looks to land a combination but Engbloom avoids it well. A slow jab from Chino misses its intended target. Chino swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Chino moves to clinch but Engbloom breaks away and Engbloom counters with a left to the body. Chino misses with a combination
and Engbloom connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Engbloom throws a right and a left that Chino avoids nicely. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. No luck with that takedown attempt from Engbloom. Chino tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Engbloom paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Engbloom counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Chino is looking to clinch but Engbloom is avoiding it.
Engbloom misses with a wild body shot. Engbloom shoots in but Chino avoids the takedown attempt easily. Engbloom ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Chino moves away. Chino slips under a jab. Horrible takedown by Engbloom or perhaps it was just good defense by Chino which made him look bad. Alpa Chino has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Klaus Engbloom. Chino moves away from the strike by Engbloom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Engbloom swats away the attempt to clinch by Chino. Chino is looking to clinch. Alpa Chino is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Engbloom swats away the attempt to clinch by Chino. Chino is looking to clinch. Engbloom shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Chino counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Chino. Engbloom has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Chino with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Chino gets through Engbloom's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Chino is leaning against Engbloom and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Engbloom wants to break the clinch but can't.
Engbloom's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Engbloom has had enough of the clinch but Chino keeps him there for the moment. Engbloom changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Chino fights it off and pushes away nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Chino tries to bum rush Engbloom with a series of wild strikes but Engbloom uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Engbloom fails with a takedown attempt. Chino tries to clinch but Engbloom moves out of range. Engbloom is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Engbloom looks to land a left hand but Chino moved out of range nicely. Alpa Chino seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Engbloom lands with an uppercut that bounces Chino off the cage and back into rage. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Engbloom fails with a takedown attempt. A slapping leg kick lands for Chino.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alpa Chino dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

That's one minute gone in the round. Engbloom walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Chino checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Chino thows a left - swing and a miss! Engbloom is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Chino's half guard. Chino is trying to maintain the position but Engbloom is very close to passing his half guard. Engbloom has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Chino wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Engbloom.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Engbloom jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Chino is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Chino and Engbloom has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Engbloom misses with the ground and pound. Engbloom trying to control the action but Chino is working from the bottom. Engbloom scores with punches from side control. Chino is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Engbloom's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Chino gets back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Engbloom advances position into side control! Engbloom in side control, throwing shots but Chino defends. Engbloom is looking to take a break and control but Chino is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Chino tries to bench press Engbloom off him but Engbloom keeps the position. Engbloom thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. An elbow from Engbloom crashes against the mat.
Chino might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Engbloom creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Chino sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Chino regains half guard. Engbloom is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Chino defends it well. Engbloom is looking to take a break and control but Chino is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Chino pushes Engbloom off looking to stand but Engbloom dives back in and keeps control.
Chino is staying active underneath Engbloom, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Engbloom trying to pass the guard but Chino defending well. Chino moves into full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Engbloom throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Engbloom throws a strike but Chino rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Chino works a leg free and moves into half guard. Chino trying to pass the guard but Engbloom defending well. Engbloom is looking for a sweep. Chino is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Engbloom takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Engbloom is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Chino pulls his head out easily. Engbloom really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chino. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Chino is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Chino is trying to control the action in half guard but Engbloom is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Engbloom can do anything to dispel that myth. Engbloom trying to hold on to Chino's head to control him but Chino postures up.
Chino wants to take a breather but Engbloom is having none of it. Chino is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Engbloom is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Alpa Chino just wasn't active enough. Chino lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Chino moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Engbloom tries to free his leg and advance position but Chino is retaining full guard. Engbloom thows a big elbow that misses. Chino preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Engbloom trying to control the position from guard on top but Chino is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Chino manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's four minutes gone in the round. Chino landing strikes, looking to finish! Chino working Engbloom over with strikes here. Chino postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Engbloom looks a forlorn figure.
Engbloom is desperately trying to improve his position but Chino has a good base and remains in mount. Chino scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Engbloom?
