We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Abbott tries to close the distance and clinch but Ryuu swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Abbott counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Abbott. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Ryuu, as that shot connected.

Abbott feints a jab promting Ryuu to slip. Abbott then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Ryuu slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Abbott scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Ryuu doesn't seem bothered though.
Abbott has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
