2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Conchito El Guapo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Big Boy! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boy keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Boy darts in trying to clinch and El Guapo counters with a takedown into side control. El Guapo trying to control the action but Boy is working from the bottom. Boy is trying to get back to half guard. Boy wants to control but El Guapo postures up. El Guapo scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Boy to see if he's OK.
It looks like Big Boy has been cut. Boy gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. El Guapo throwing shots but Boy is blocking nicely. Boy gets back to full guard.
Boy has his foot on El Guapo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. El Guapo works his way back into a safe position though. Boy is trying to keep El Guapo in close.

El Guapo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Boy on the ground. Boy trying to hold on to El Guapo's head to control him but El Guapo postures up.
Boy is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. El Guapo landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
That has opened up Big Boy's cut even more. El Guapo thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. El Guapo scoring with strikes to the body and head.
The cut above Big Boy's eye is starting to cause him problems now. El Guapo thows a huge punch but Boy dodges it nicely.
El Guapo throws a strike but Boy avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

El Guapo is looking to work some ground and pound but Boy has wrist control. El Guapo wants to control from the top but Boy keeps moving. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as El Guapo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Boy looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Boy slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. El Guapo throws and elbow that misses. Boy uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in El Guapo's guard. Nice move by Boy! Boy should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. El Guapo keeping moving, preventing Boy from controlling successfully. El Guapo wants to stand and escape but Boy is having none of it. El Guapo has a closed guard, preventing Boy from standing up. Boy prevents El Guapo from getting back to his feet. El Guapo uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Boy misses with a takedown and El Guapo makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Boy looks gassed! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Boy with a lazy takedown attempt and El Guapo counters with a good low kick that Boy was not able to check. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Conchito El Guapo dominated that round. The cut man is working on Big Boy's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Silva shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Evans's guard. Silva trying to control but Evans is working from the bottom. Silva forces his way into half guard. Evans wants to get back to full guard. Evans really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Silva wants to control but Evans is keeping him busy. Silva performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Silva frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Silva jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Evans manages to avoid the submission attempt. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
