Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Roman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tatsuya Suzuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roman's entrance music is Momma said knock you out. A fine choice. Johnny Roman had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 171.7lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. This should be a great matchup!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Roman throws a combination that misses and Suzuki counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Suzuki got a little sloppy there for a moment and Roman has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Suzuki has managed to get both his arms back between Roman's legs - danger averted. Roman throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Suzuki wants to control from the top but Roman keeps moving. Suzuki throwing strikes from guard but Roman blocks nicely. Roman is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Suzuki is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Tatsuya Suzuki was stalling too much, according to the referee. Suzuki shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Roman manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Roman preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Roman is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Suzuki defends well. Roman is breathing heavily. Roman escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Suzuki gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Suzuki trying to control the position from guard on top but Roman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Suzuki controlling from the top position. Suzuki lands a couple of elbows. Roman looking for a guillotine here but Suzuki defends easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Roman being controlled here, momentarily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Roman looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Suzuki trying to control but Roman is working from the bottom. Suzuki landing some decent shots from guard. Suzuki stays in close to Roman's body and controls the position. Suzuki's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Tatsuya Suzuki wasn't active enough on the ground. Roman jabbing away but nothing is landing. Suzuki feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Suzuki remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Roman is looking to regain half guard here but Suzuki keeps moving and retains side control. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Suzuki throwing strikes but missing, from side control.

He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Suzuki cracks Roman with a solid left hand. Roman has his foot on Suzuki's thigh. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Phenom throws a right and a left that Changmin avoids nicely. Phenom misses with a hook
and Changmin counters with a series of strikes. Phenom will be more careful next time no doubt. Changmin rushes Phenom and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Phenom wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Changmin tries to circle away but Phenom has him pinned against the cage. Changmin lands a hook to the side of the head. Phenom breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Phenom throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Changmin throws a nice looking combination but Phenom bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Changmin looks to land a combination but Phenom avoids it well. Phenom misses with a combination
and Changmin counters with a stiff right hand. Changmin throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Changmin throws a right and a left that both miss. Changmin showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Phenom.

and Changmin counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Changmin. Changmin working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Phenom wants to get back to striking at distance but Changmin won't allow it.
Changmin lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Phenom backwards. Changmin lands a left hand.

Changmin uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Phenom. Phenom throws a jab when Changmin was well out of range. Phenom misses with the combination.

Changmin lands with a straight right. Phenom didn't see that one coming. Sloppy strikes from Changmin. Those never looked like landing.

Marcus Phenom seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Changmin lands the left hand. Changmin throws a right and a left that Phenom avoids nicely.

Changmin closes the distance and clinches. Phenom tries to break the clinch but Changmin is controlling the position. Phenom takes a shot to the head. Changmin lands with a left to the head. A short right from Changmin. Phenom is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Changmin breaks the clinch.
Changmin paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. A left and a right from Changmin both land. Nice combination.

Phenom looks to clinch but Changmin throws a short knee that drops Phenom. This one is all over!

This has been an exciting period of action! Purnu lands a big head kick that sends Jones tumbling to the mat! Purnu takes a step backwards and waves Jones back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like James Jones has been cut. Jones backs away from a small jab...but Purnu lunges forward with a huge superman punch! Jones crumples to the ground as his mouth piece is sent flying! Purnu with a spectacular finish!

The Great trying to control the position from guard on top but Mendez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The Great sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mendez's guard. The Great maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Mendez could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but The Great has cracked it and Mendez is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by The Great!

and Ishakima counters with a three punch combo that has Boyka backing up. Boyka nods at Ishakima to acknowledge the strikes. Boyka fails to land with a series of punches.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lim misses with an uppercut

They are putting on a show! A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Vandelay holds on and takes a little breather. Lim trying to control the position from guard on top but Vandelay is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Steeves throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Zola manages to escape and get back to his feet! Zola misses with a double jab
and Steeves counters with a nice body shot. Zola misses with a right hand and Steeves counters with a body kick that stops Zola in his tracks momentarily. Zola is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent. Zola gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Steeves to score an easy takedown into full guard. Steeves looking to pass the guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Sancho Zola comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Zola has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. Sparta is fighting off a takedown attempt but Daileon is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Sparta to the mat. Sparta regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Daileon controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Sparta is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Sparta wants to stand up but Daileon is controlling him. Daileon works a leg free and moves into half guard.
