We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Avatar is defended easily by Silva.
Silva slaps away a takedown attempt from Avatar, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Silva misses with a takedown attempt
and Avatar counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Silva is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Silva clinches up with Avatar and pushes him back against the cage.
Silva tries to pull guard but Avatar holds him up against the cage and eventually Silva drops back down to his feet.

Avatar manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Avatar is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Avatar is trying to control. Silva wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Avatar manages to capitalize on a mistake by Silva to take his back!
I really don't envy Silva right now.
Avatar throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Silva is looking to regain half guard here but Avatar keeps moving and retains side control.
You can see the frustration on Silva's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Avatar wants to control but Silva is keeping him busy.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Aang Avatar was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Silva rushes Avatar and presses him up against the cage.

Avatar has had enough of the clinch but Silva keeps him there for the moment.

Silva lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Silva.

Silva shoots for a double leg takedown but Avatar sprawls well. He's pushed Silva's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
