0 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Dick Ryda! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pilgrim with a lazy takedown attempt and Ryda counters with a head kick. Pilgrim tries to clinch up and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Ryda moves out of range of the strikes. Pilgrim closes the distance looking to clinch and Ryda counters with a right hand to the body. Ryda shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Pilgrim counters with a nice body shot. Pilgrim tries to clinch but fails miserably and Ryda counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ryda gets to his feet - Pilgrim follows without any prompting. Pilgrim throws a lazy head kick and Ryda counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Ryda. Ryda breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Pilgrim swings and misses with a shot to the body and Ryda moves into the clinch. Ryda drags the fight down to the ground.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Ryda has eaten all the pies!

Ryda controls Pilgrim momentarily but Pilgrim frees himself. Ryda looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Ryda has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Pilgrim should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Ryda has tightened it up now! Pilgrim should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson throws a series of strikes that have Pavlacci backpedaling.
Jackson throws a low kick but Pavlacci moves out of range easily. Pavlacci clinches. Jackson can't break the clinch.
Pavlacci misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Jackson.
Jackson is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. A left hand lands to the body for Pavlacci.
Jackson is pressed up against the cage. Pavlacci has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jackson down to the mat. Jackson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Jackson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jackson will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

It's a sloppy attempt though and Pavlacci jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Jackson wants to stand but Pavlacci is controlling the position. Pavlacci slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Pavlacci wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving.
We're going to have a standup here because Carollo Pavlacci wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Jackson is looking to clinch. Jackson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pavlacci paws at him with a jab and circles away. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Jackson, right into the meat.
Pavlacci keeps the fight on the outside. Jackson buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Pavlacci eats them both and turns towards Jackson to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Pavlacci misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Pavlacci is breathing heavily. Pavlacci tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Jackson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Pavlacci stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Jackson. Jackson fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Jackson throws a series of strikes that have Pavlacci backpedaling.

The fighters circle momentarily. Jackson darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jackson scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Jackson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jackson is squirming around, avoiding Pavlacci's attempts to control the action. Pavlacci takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Pavlacci landing strikes, looking to finish! Pavlacci looking to control but Jackson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Jackson wants to hold on but Pavlacci pushes him away.

Pavlacci is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Jackson is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Pavlacci swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Jackson is now in Pavlacci's guard. A big mistake from Pavlacci there, giving up the dominant position! Pavlacci is looking for a triangle but Jackson pushes his legs off easily.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jackson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Jackson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Jackson throws a big right hand that misses. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Pavlacci holds on and takes a little breather. Pavlacci is trying to control the position but Jackson postures up. Jackson is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Jackson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pavlacci. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Jackson scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Pavlacci is trying to maintain the position but Jackson is very close to passing his half guard. Pavlacci has hold of Jackson's hands but Jackson slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Pavlacci is looking to control Jackson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pavlacci avoid being mounted? Jackson thows a huge punch but Pavlacci dodges it nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Jackson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Pavlacci's head. Jackson is looking to take a break and control but Pavlacci is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Pavlacci wants to improve his position but Jackson is controlling well.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Jackson lands a nice short elbow. Jackson lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Jackson not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Pavlacci has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jackson is working away from the top position though. Jackson missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hickson dives in and scores a takedown into Richer's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hickson working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Richer's head. Richer working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Hickson has passed into half guard!
Hickson decides to return to a standing position. Hickson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hickson lands in his opponent's guard. Richer looking for a guillotine here but Hickson defends easily.

Juarez uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Congo.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Juarez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Congo as he jumps to the side. Juarez fails to land the takedown. Congo misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Juarez.
Congo is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Juarez.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Congo lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Congo fails with an attempt to clinch.
Congo throws a front kick aimed at Juarez's knee but Juarez avoids it well. Congo tries to clinch but Juarez is having none of it. Juarez uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Congo. Juarez shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Juarez was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
And that's the end of the fight! Ghengis Congo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Congo has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
