The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mueller blocks a head kick by Bartholemeaux.
Mueller tries for a takedown but Bartholemeaux circles away easily

and Bartholemeaux decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mueller's guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Bartholemeaux stands and steps away. Mueller gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Mueller tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bartholemeaux paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Mueller shoots in and gets a takedown into Bartholemeaux's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Bartholemeaux wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
A big right followed by a crushing left from Bartholemeaux knocks Mueller out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Watson closes the distance looking to clinch

and Penn counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Watson's guard now.
Penn wants to control from the top but Watson keeps moving.
Watson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Penn controls the pace.
Penn throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Watson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Penn throwing strikes but missing.
Penn postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Watson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Penn chips away with some ground and pound.
Penn distracts Watson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Penn makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Penn is pushing down on Watson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Watson is fighting to maintain full guard but Penn has managed to sneak the leg through.

Penn is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Watson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Penn on the ground.

Penn looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Watson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Penn is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Watson defends it well.

Penn wants to work for an arm triangle but Watson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Penn seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Penn pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Oooh a big shot lands for Penn! Watson is out! The ref dives in to save him from more punishment!

It looks like Gunn might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Blackadder is fighting off a takedown attempt but Pierdzialowski is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Blackadder to the mat. Blackadder regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Blackadder has his foot on Pierdzialowski's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pierdzialowski works his way back into a safe position though.

Well Rex has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
