The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Becks tries a head kick but it misses.
An inside leg kick lands from Becks.
Miyata tries to close the distance and clinch but Becks swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Miyata throws a lazy body kick

and Becks counters with a single leg into guard. Miyata didn't expect that.

Becks is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Becks slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Becks wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Miyata, who protects the arm well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Becks thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Miyata is trying to improve his position.

Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Sua screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
