1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Al Sahab! The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Arvi Lind and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hughes misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Sahab.
Sahab bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Sahab stands up and we're back to a striking position. Sahab closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hughes did well to prevent Sahab getting side control. Sahab tries to stand and escape but Hughes is controlling the position. Hughes keeping hold of Sahab's head, controlling as best he can. Sahab is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hughes trying to control from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sahab seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Jordan Hughes just wasn't active enough. Sahab drives through with a takedown into Hughes's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Sahab postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Sahab missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hughes keeping full guard, as Sahab tries to pass. Sahab sitting in guard, not really doing much. Hughes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sahab on the ground.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hughes holds on and takes a little breather. Sahab stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hughes swivels though and keeps the full guard. Sahab is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Al Sahab hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Sahab fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Nice sprawl there from Sahab as Hughes shoots in. Hughes is breathing heavily. Hughes moves out of range of the strikes. Sahab shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hughes pinned against the cage. Hughes gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Hughes stuffs the takedown attempt from Sahab. Sahab gets slowly back to his feet. Sahab gets the takedown into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A bit of a lull in the action here. Sahab controls the position from side control. Sahab fails to land a wild elbow strike.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Sahab looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Hughes is avoiding damage well.

Al Sahab dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Hughes dodges the punch combination from Sahab.
Sahab shoots in for a double leg but Hughes sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. A big right from Sahab misses. Sahab scores a takedown into full mount! Sahab looking to control and managing it successfully. Hughes throwing hammer fists to the chest of Sahab. What's that going to do exactly? Al Sahab has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hughes is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Sahab takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Sahab moves to back control. Sahab wants to control the position but Hughes frees himself and scrambles - Sahab manages to regain control in side control.
Sahab throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sahab slows the pace down. Hughes takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Hughes is not content to let Sahab control the position. Sahab stands up and beckons Hughes to his feet. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Sahab shoots in looking for a takedown but Hughes manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sahab's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Sahab feints and as Hughes raises his hands in defense, Sahab changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Sahab pushes down on Hughes's leg and manages to get into half guard. Hughes keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Sahab trying to pass the guard but Hughes defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sahab not landing any meaningful shots this time. Well, if Sahab is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Al Sahab showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Hughes shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sahab sprawls well. Sahab wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hughes gets slowly back to his feet. Hughes circles away from the clinch attempt.
Sahab is looking to clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. No luck with that takedown attempt from Sahab. Sahab is looking to clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sahab darts in and clinches Hughes up against the cage. Sahab is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Sahab managing to block the knees to the body from Hughes.
Sahab gets control of Hughes's arms and successfully pulls guard. Sahab will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Sahab is trying to control the position but Hughes postures up. Hughes might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Sahab looking for a sweep. Not yet Sahab, not yet. Sahab bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hughes's guard. Sahab controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Al Sahab was stalling too much, according to the referee. Sahab fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Hughes tries to clinch but Sahab is having none of it. Sahab throws a right hand that Hughes ducks under and follows up with a left that Hughes also avoids with ease. Hughes swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Sahab shoots for a takedown but Hughes saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Jordan Hughes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Al Sahab. Sahab wants to land a leg kick but Hughes is out of range.

Sahab bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Sahab postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Sahab trying to control the position but Hughes is working away. Hughes is trying to control Sahab's posture but Sahab avoids it. Hughes regains half guard there - taking advantage of Sahab's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sahab looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Al Sahab wasn't active enough on the ground. Hughes jabs Sahab to the body, keeping him at a distance. Sahab closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hughes quickly recovers to half guard. Jordan Hughes has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Al Sahab is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Sahab decides to return to a standing position.
And that's the end of the fight! Al Sahab comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Sahab has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kuus tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mayer was well out of range. Poor timing from Kuus. Mayer slaps away a takedown attempt from Kuus, before circling back to the center of the mat. Kuus blocks a jab. Mayer pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Kuus uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Mayer. Mayer throws an overhand right that lands on Kuus's shoulder, as Kuus tries to avoid the shot. Mayer misses with a hook. Mayer throws a combination. Kuus tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
It looks like Mart Kuus has been cut. Kuus looks gassed! This has been an exciting period of action! Mayer works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Mayer is looking to chop away at Kuus's legs. Mayer missing with a left hand there. Kuus was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Kuus shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mayer as he avoids it easily. Kuus takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Kuus is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Mayer throws a monster overhand right that drops Kuus! Mayer follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smithson looks to throw a body kick and Frankopan counters by moving into the clinch. With the fighters up against the cage, Smithson throws an elbow but misses. Frankopan has picked Smithson up - he's going for a ride! Frankopan dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Smithson is trying to stand up here but Frankopan is controlling him well. Smithson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Frankopan is working away from the top position though. Smithson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Smithson. Smithson trying to keep a closed guard but Frankopan is proving a slippery customer.
Smithson is adopting a defensive guard. Frankopan content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Smithson has locked up a guillotine! Smithson's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Frankopan is holding on here and Smithson must be using up a lot of energy. Frankopan has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Smithson gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Paa ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Paa drives through with a takedown into guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Odeivole has his foot on Paa's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Paa works his way back into a safe position though. Odeivole throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Paa slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Paa is staying tight to Odeivole's torso, preventing him from escaping. Odeivole really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Paa is trying to get an arm triangle but Odeivole is defending well. Odeivole can't do much from the bottom here. Odeivole is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Paa is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Paa looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Odeivole sneaks back into half guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Odeivole tries to get to full guard but Paa has control of the leg. No, Paa has managed to get both his arms back between Odeivole's legs - danger averted. Odeivole has his foot on Paa's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Paa works his way back into a safe position though. Paa must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's four minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Paa slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Odeivole looking for a guillotine here but Paa defends easily.
Paa looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Odeivole will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Odeivole misses with a takedown attempt - Paa sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Odeivole misses with a takedown and Paa counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Paa avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Paa makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Odeivole is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Paa wants to pass the guard but Odeivole is keeping the position. Paais looking to pass into half guard but Odeivole pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Odeivole is in guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Paa is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Odeivole defends well. Paa looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Odeivole drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Odeivole as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Paa screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Odeivole! Nice submission victory there!

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Henrique is looking to stand back up but Skier counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Henrique. Henrique strikes from the bottom but Skier passes into mount!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Saatana tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. McLair dives in and grabs Saatana's left leg, looking for a takedown. Saatana pushes down on McLair's head and hops out. Saatana looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. McLair misses with the combination.
Saatana wants to clinch. A momentary lapse in concentration from Saatana enables McLair to shoot in and score with a neat double leg.
