The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brinkley throws a right hand that Sparks ducks under and follows up with a left that Sparks also avoids with ease.
Brinkley misses the body punch
and Sparks counters with a nice leg kick.
Sparks works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

It looks like Jesse Brinkley has been cut.

Brinkley gets tackled into the cage by Sparks. Sparks maintains the clinch.
Sparks can't get the takedown.

Sparks escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Brinkley moves into the clinch successfully.

Sparks decides to pull guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sparks lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Brinkley!
Brinkley really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sparks. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Brinkley is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Sparks lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Sparks has control of Brinkley's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Brinkley regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Oh but MaGee is tightening it up a little... Savage has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Frederman displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Stark throws out the jab.

Stark closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Frederman to the mat! Frederman manages to get full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stark is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Frederman is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Frederman can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Stark controls the pace.
Stark might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Stark won't allow Frederman to sweep him here.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Stark, as that shot connected.

Frederman on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Frederman steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Stark.
Stark thuds a left hand into Frederman's body.
Frederman has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Stark finds it's way round the side to connect with Frederman's head.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Frederman drops his hands momentarily and Stark takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Stark will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Stark misses with a few strikes there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

C G Stark dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Stark jabs Frederman to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Stark keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Stark lands a jab to Frederman's midsection.
Frederman is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and Stark moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.
