Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jason Hoffman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carmen Villamora (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Hoffman might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Enter Sandman by Metallica. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jason Hoffman.

Helmer shoots for a double leg takedown but The Vitor sprawls well. He's pushed Helmer's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

The Vitor throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Helmer tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. The Vitor is in Helmer's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The Vitor looking to sit in guard and control but Helmer gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Helmer drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but The Vitor manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Helmer has The Vitor in his guard.

Helmer has his foot on The Vitor's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. The Vitor works his way back into a safe position though.

Helmer has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but The Vitor can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Helmer has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. The Vitor is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Helmer.
Oh Helmer is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The Vitor wants to control but Helmer is keeping him busy.
A big shot lands for The Vitor! That's hurt Helmer! Will he recover? The Vitor fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Papiyap closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Diamonds did well to prevent Papiyap getting side control.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Diamonds pushes Papiyap off looking to stand but Papiyap dives back in and keeps control.

Papiyap is looking for a kimura but Diamonds is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Papiyap to get the leverage.

Papiyap seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Diamonds has recovered full guard.

Papiyap thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Papiyap passes easily into side control. Nice work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Papiyap is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Diamonds doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Papiyap.

Lawry clinches with his opponent.
Kivel keeps control of Lawry as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Kivel is fighting off a takedown attempt but Lawry is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Kivel to the mat. Kivel regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Lawry postures up.

Lawry avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kivel had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Lawry defends it easily.

Lawry with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Kivel looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Lawry slips nicely into half guard.
Lawry looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kivel with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Lawry is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Lawry wants to finish this one by submission but Kivel is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Lawry.
Lawry is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Kivel can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
