Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tommy Thompkins! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Wesley Smith and George Francis.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thompkins stuffs the takedown. Thompkins connects with a right hand. Split shakes it off. Horrible takedown by Split or perhaps it was just good defense by Thompkins which made him look bad. Thompkins throws a series of punches but Split avoids them all with ease. Thompkins leaves Split with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Banana Split. That's going to take a lot out of him. Split gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Thompkins. Split looks to score with a jab to the body but Thompkins is just out of range. Split dodges the punch combination from Thompkins.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Split circles away from the clinch attempt
and Split counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Thompkins is trying to stand back up but Split is controlling him

 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Skank avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Skank shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Skank throws the kick towards the body but White avoids it. Thor Skank seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Skank feints and then cracks White's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow White down. Skank throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. White shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Skank but Skank pushes him off and we're back to square one. White misses with a takedown attempt and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. White is breathing heavily. This has been an exciting period of action! Skank digs a good body shot into White's ribs. Skank ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Skank connects with an inside leg kick. Skank cracks the inside of White's front leg. A slapping body kick lands there for Skank. White gets cracked there but stands up to it.
 It looks like Joe White has been cut. Skank looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

White on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Skank with a nice cross. A slapping body kick lands there for Skank. Skank works the jab nicely. Skank lands with an overhand left. Skank feints and then cracks White's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow White down.

Skank lands a left and a right that send White crashing to the mat, dazed. Skank thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet! 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tristan David! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Strash tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. David manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Strash moves in looking to clinch but David pushes him off. David fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Strash tries to clinch up but David circles away and keeps his distance.
David closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Strash to the mat! Strash manages to get full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. David trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Strash could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
David has gone for a leg lock! Strash slips out almost immediately though and dives into David's guard.
David is looking for a triangle but Strash pushes his legs off easily.
 That's one minute gone in the round. David is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Let's hope that David has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
 The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Tristan David wasn't active enough on the ground. David circles away from the clinch attempt.

David will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. David shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Strash pinned against the cage. Strash gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
David shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. David is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. David looking to pass the guard. David is looking to work some ground and pound but Strash has wrist control.

David drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Strash manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now David has Strash in his guard. Strash might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. David is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
 The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Avan Strash. Strash tries to clinch there but David circles away.

 The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. David is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Strash is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Strash has escaped and now he's on top! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Strash being controlled here momentarily. And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.

Strash stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Strash wants it to stay on the feet. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from David. David avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
David throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Strash's waist but Strash gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing David off to one side. Avan Strash has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tristan David. Strash tries to clinch
and David counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Strash!
David is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Strash has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Strash! Strash knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for David on the ground. Strash tries to stand but David is controlling from the bottom.

 We're going to have a standup here because Avan Strash wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Strash scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. David swats away the attempt to clinch by Strash. David will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Strash swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Spektor wants to stand and escape but instead Canada has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Canada trying to stand up but can't free himself from Spektor's guard.  That's four minutes gone in the round. Canada shoots in for a double leg but Spektor sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Spektor dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Canada. That did some damage! Spektor shoots in and drives through. Canada sprawls well.
Canada looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Canada winds up and cracks Spektor with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Canada is looking for a kimura but Spektor is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Canada to get the leverage.
Spektor actively working from the bottom here. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Spektor is not content to let Canada control the position. Spektor tries to roll over but Canada keeps him under control. And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.

Spektor has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Canada is working away from the top position though. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Canada moves into full mount! Spektor won't be happy about that! Spektor really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Canada. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
